Not really my place to decide what the right path is for someone else.
But i’m sure you do sometimes? If someone says something you know to be scientifically wrong, is it not the loving thing to do, to correct them on it?
Scientific subjects don’t tend to come up in conversations I have with people. If a friend had a different understanding of some scientific subject of mutual interest, I might observe that I’d understood differently, but I wouldn’t assume that I’m right, nor would I characterize that as setting them on the right path.
