England can learn nothing of Denmark’s social services. Both countries engage in escalating rent-seeking behavior, and England is far ahead in that race.

I think there is some difference. In the UK, children’s home providers are contracted out and effectively paid rent, creating the incentive structure you’re highlighting.

But in Denmark most of these homes are owned by the municipal governments themselves, not rented. It’s broadly just a government service, not a rent contract market.

This BBC article has a great infographic that breaks down the difference, and does a better job highlighting the ideas in general: https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cwy2vxp48y8o

Which means it’s chronically underfunded and staffed by people who don’t care about the children. People don’t talk about this, and I especially don’t trust the BBC to talk about it, but danish welfare is totally and utterly collapsed. Lower class people only get healthcare on paper because GPs won’t diagnose or refer people with anything other than a common flu, and the middle class just pay for private doctors to give them whatever they want.

WTF! No it isn’t, not in Denmark. Do you really think all countries are as bad as UK?

What a moronic take, there are fundamental differences where UK is way way behind.
In Denmark we have an education specifically for working with children and people with special needs call Pædagog.
The same word in English means a pedantic teacher according to Merriam Webster.
      https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/pedagogue

The direct translation is suggested as Kindergarten Teacher, but in Denmark it’s about care.
The mentality between the 2 countries are simply miles apart. Maybe not so much among people working with children or people with special needs, but the mentality of the SYSTEM is way way behind in UK and in USA too.

The rent-seeking behavior you claim I never even heard about here in Denmark, and I have no idea what you mean by that.
It may be a thing in UK, but definitely not here in Denmark.

        I know.

I speak from a position of being in the lower end of the lower class when I’m telling you this shit has collapsed. Believe it or don’t, I don’t care. I fight with your attitude every day of my life and I’m beyond trying to explain it. Look it up, or keep thinking that Denmark is somehow special in the global economy. The collapse will find you eventually.

Looked it up, it’s not a phenomenon that is a problem with children’s homes here.

That’s not what I told you to look up. Here- I’ll give you a starter: The problem with the children’s homes is the same problem with the the healthcare and the schooling and the jobcenter.

Remember 2 years ago when DR ran a whole campaign against the jobcenter? Do you know what has changed? Fucking nothing. It’s worse than it ever was. You only hear about it when the media reports on it, and our media only reports on shit that affects the middle class. The middle class is entirely unrelated to children’s homes, so you don’t know how bad it is. Go speak to the people involved, dawg.

I agree that “normal” people are mostly unaware how bad it can be at the bottom of society.
