  • As a long time linux user, I'm happy to see that linux news are being posted in non-tech communities more frequently.

Windows might be the most famous (notorious) vendor-lock in, but migrating from Windows to Linux is more smooth than the stereotype

  • I’ve been using Linux for more than a decade. Modern Linux is quite easy to start, compared to the old stereotype.

I highly recommend an easy way: for the daily softwares you use, you try to replace them with cross-platform ones, like libreoffice, thunderbird… when you want to try Linux someday, the migration path could be more smooth than you expected

  • Personally, my favourite site is liberapay.

They're very transparent about the transaction fees, and they're providing suggestions to reduce the cost (once per year instead of once per month)

    According to their website https://en.liberapay.com/about/

Liberapay is a non-profit organization founded in 2015 in France by Changaco and Zatalyz.

On the other hand, liberapay is focus on donations, and they don't have the fancy socialization tools at buy me a coffee

  • I'm using Mlem since its testflight.

For now, I'm quite satisfied with the app store version

  • It’s hard to believe so many CEOs are so short-sighted. Comparing to the history of the fool, supporting Trump is not the dumbest play call

  • I can't understand it either.

I'd consider the digit key cards as a physical cartridge requiring a huge first-day patch (as large as a full game).

Okay, I guess some of the anger comes from the limited storage of console and the high price of fast SD card

  • Sorry to hear it. I'm a casual player and the Linux performance worked well for me. If playing CS competitively, the little difference in performance is crucial.

  • Not sure what kind of multi player game you prefer. Dota 2 and CS have perfect Linux support and it may worth a try

  • I'm neutral with it.

A meta-search engine is a search tool that sends user queries to selected search engines and returns the result

I don't know the cost of Waterfox to send the queries to the search engine providers. I'm afraid that the ad income can't cover the cost

  • I had a quick view at this post : https://www.reddit.com/r/radeon/comments/157qa6c/rx_6600_or_rx_6700_xt_for_1080p/

It seems to me that 6700xt is much stronger than 6600. More expensive, too. Personally, I would pay some extra money 6700xt, but it depends on OP's budget and game preference.

I'd suggest OP to consider several factors:

    1. Is the game you're playing CPU-intensive? aka Will your 3600X be the bottleneck if you have a powerful GPU?
    2. Do you have a 4K/1440p monitor?
  • Well, this is my first time hearing Betterbird

After reading their feature table https://www.betterbird.eu/#featuretable I think they have a really laudable goal.

I'd suggest to check the feature table first. If there is anything you concern, you pick Betterbird. Otherwise, you can choose one randomly :)
