  • You don't get to tell people who are harmed, oppressed, and marginalized that they have to play nice with their oppressors. If you choose to take that task upon yourself, that's fine and noble but you don't tell a rape victim that they have to speak to their rapist after they realize they might have done something wrong. That's not how this works. That person wanted LGBTQ people harmed. Point blank. You don't tell LGBTQ people to play nice with them now.

    Yes, I understand the political calculus at play. Yes, I'm an activist and organizer with over 20 years of experience in this. Yes, I know what's at stake.

    Too bad. That's now how it works. My advice, keep people like her clear of people who will call her stupid (and worse), not the other way around.

    And when she ACTUALLY understands why she's a horrid person, maybe then others will be willing to not attack her.

    Until then, she's unrepentant, unreformed, and a repugnant human being and many will rightfully tell her that in no uncertain terms.

    I had done my own search too but again, everyone is fallible so better to just ask.

    Edit: it appears Truman actually tried to make a national health insurance act happen and was defeated by anti-communist sentiments, the American Medical Association, and republicans fear mongering and “they’re gonna raise your taxes!!!!” rhetoric. It would have been a part of the social security expansion but alas, congress is corrupt and Americans are gullible (being generous).

    A generous reading would say something along the lines of, there isn't hard evidence and he hasn't been convicted.

    A realistic reading would say something along the lines of, yep - he did it.

    "Seat” refers only to the location allocated near to a row of seats, not a guarantee of actual place to sit.

  • There isn’t a perfect solution, and that sort of thought terminating response is problematic to say the least.

    BUT here’s a little fun fact for you homie Riverside California has a mobile mental health crisis response team operated by the Riverside Univeristy system.

    Beyond that I’d at least go with 311. The non-emergency line that doesn’t automatically dump cops in your lap.

    So the manager had a literal professional mobile team he could have called instead OR at the very least called a number that is commonly known that doesn’t immediately dispatch professional murderers.

  • It’s not really about if they had ill will. If you knowingly leave your baby in a hot car, you’re responsible.

    In our society, if you call the cops, you have to know what you’re doing. You’re calling an oppressive, occupying army whose sole job it is is to enact the state’s monopoly of violence upon its slaves/subjects.

    That’s the reality. You called a fucking team of violent psychopaths to resolve your issue. You bear responsibility in some shape for the results.

    It’s not someone’s fault that they’ve been propagandized and brainwashed by the system as a whole, being indoctrinated from birth in it BUT it is their responsibility to grow out of it.

    That manager, in a very real way, has the blood of that person on their hands and I’m with the other commenter. I hope it haunts them forever.

    Maybe then they’ll think twice before using a violent state authorized street gang to solve their problems.
