  • I've been there, too. I ignored warning signs because I was desperate, and then wished I hadn't later. Saying that you will accept any job that comes your way is a good route to getting fucked over.

    You might think that you need the money, but it really isn't worth it when you lose your job a week later and your temp agency won't answer your calls anymore. There are some crazy, toxic workplaces out there.

  • It behooves you to ask the interviewer some questions, too. It helps to give you an idea about whether or not you want to work there.

    There were definitely times when I had a bad interview, I still got the job, and I wished that I hadn't. Don't ignore warning signs because you're desperate! Sometimes it's better to have no job at all.

  • Pamela Colman Smith, a British artist. Who, I have just learned, was actually not a woman of color. Despite her spending a lot of time in Jamaica, writing books on Jamaican folklore, and even adopting the dress and mannerisms of a Jamaican...she was actually European. Kids these days would call that "problematic".

    However, she never married or had children, and she lived with a female best friend, so I think the odds are very good that she was either a lesbian or asexual.

  • Do you honestly think that they don't boost right-wing stuff? They can and they do. I'll give you an example. After Trump got elected and Zuckerberg was genuflecting at him, I suddenly started seeing Trump shit in my Facebook feed. This is even with an adblocker and FBP, which normally lets me block sponsored shit. Another example: At X, Musk has ideas like "white genocide" baked into the platform's AI chatbot. You can't reform a system like that. You have to abandon it.

    The left cannot win anything going forward unless they beat the fuck out of the reich on these platforms. There is no protest that can succeed if we don’t have a good presence on the platforms that people get their opinions from.

    Reality is we all should be there now, building groups and putting their ideas against the ropes.

    Right. The left is only going to win by...arguing with CHUDs on X? What an obvious waste of time. Yes, organize, but you don't need to organize at the Nazi bar. In fact, organizing at the Nazi bar is pretty clearly a bad idea. They control the platform. They have your personal and private data. What do you think that they're going to do if you start winning? Come on.

    Also, if "we should all be there now", why are you here? Why aren't you arguing with Nazis on X? Sounds like you've got a lot of work to do!
