    Try tamari if you’ve never had it and you can get down with something richer. Think of how Kikkoman’s alcohol-ferment side is like a crisp fizzy Japanese lager. In a tamari, that aspect is like the flavors of a barrel-aged doppelbock that a monk would drink to get through a fast. But without being sweet or heavy!

    I’ve seen it in midrange gringo grocery stores, but it’s worth a trip to wherever you can find it.

  • Chapulines! They take chili lime seasoning very well. There’s this lemon tea thing to them that makes them fun in salads, it’s like a little lemon Snapple flavored protein puff. Had a tomato, feta, olive, and cucumber salad with ‘em that was the most ingredient-elevated unexpectedly-gourmet thing I’ve ever put in my mouth.

I did some searching and found NASA currently uses a lifetime dose limit of 600 mSv before grounding an astronaut, and there’s also a handy chart of the relative radiosensitivity among different parts of the body.

    The bioengineering challenge of mitigating 1-2 Sv of hazard starts to look more approachable with that data on board, but I know jack and shit, and am merely curious, and want NASA to cure cancer. What do you think?
