I don't read my replies

  • That's a really long article to say that the pig was high on duty and died as a result. Everybody knows that fentanyl exposure syndrome is BS but they still can't help but imply the fuck out of it.

When citizens OD and crash, they're treated like the deadly menace that they are. Pigs are protected by fairy tales and moonbeams.

  • I can not be created, only confirmed.

  • Watching Youtube videos. It's as good as college for anyone with a little savvy. I'll bet that Youtube employs more PHD philosophers than any three universities.

  • Turf grass. It's the stupidest crop ever cultivated by humanity.

Lawns are an 17th century European fashion trend. We poison the soil with herbicides to defend grass. We poison the water with fertilizers to feed grass. Many US households through HOAs or zoning regulations are legally required to cultivate and martian grass. Grass doesn't feed anyone, except the insects that die soon afterwards from all the poison.

  • Maybe your looking for "toxic-positivity"?

It's the type of mindset where everything must be positive, even if that means discounting or ignoring negative feelings, bad behavior, and bad situations.

This is a recognized psychological phenomena and can range from normal "keep your chin up" type stuff to full blown "FUD will not be tolerated" cult type stuff

  • There are telegraphs with higher bandwidth than this thing.

  • SciShow is good people making science content aimed at a general audience.

  • I don't understand all the friction Gnome gets. Yes, I'm satisfied with everything default on the Debian/ Fedora Workstation. That's because the DE get's the hell out of my way and most everything can be easily managed without touching the mouse.

Those two things alone are so important to me, and such an improvement over Windows, that I've just never gotten around to trying other DE seriously.

  • Audiophiles get a lot of friction, but this kind of person exists in almost any hobby. People fascinated by equipment and ascetics who loose the plot about what their hobby is all about.

  • Conspiracy theories can be a coping mechanism that allow people to feel like they understand a complicated and scary world. The Epstein scandal is complicated and scary.

  • Slug man from the sewer runs for president, wins.

  • The reason circumcision is common in the US has more to do with people like RFK jr. than it does with people like Epstein.

  • Have an upvote you lunatic.

  • The idea isn't falsifiable. Therefore it's not science.

It's not dumb or foolish to think that ideas like this are plausible and cool. They may even be true, we just can't tell the difference with science.

  • Sulfuric Acid isn't ideal for dissolving bodies, because it doesn't dissolve bones well. It has many legitimate uses such as water purification, which the article points out.

Honestly with all the terrible shit we know happened, I don't understand the urge to turn this into an episode of Dexter. Is child-abuse island it not interesting enough?

  • Hardees/ Carls jr. used to advertise a 1/4 cheeseburger with lettuce and tomato as the "six dollar burger" as a dig at casual dining restaurants.

Today it's called the "famous star" and is $6.39.

  • Gary Webb killed himself. He was divorced, unemployed, and his professional reputation was ruined. His reporting on the CIA importing cocaine was retracted after it was fact checked, and his editor would not stand behind the reporting.

But his article was published and is still available to read. The idea that the CIA assassinates people 20 years after they "spill the secrets" stretches credulity. Makes since he'd punch his own ticket.

The idea that he was shot twice "in the back of the head" is a myth. He did shoot himself twice, but that's not so unusual. 42% of gunshot and penetrative wounds to the brain are survivable.

This meme irritates me because it depends on the misinformation that suicides are unusual or suspicious. Suicides are common as dirt. To the tune of like 40K people/ year in the US. It's a major public health crisis but gets ignored because of taboo and because it's a gun issue.
