  • Most people get tattoos or piercings, experiment with hair and nails, or even change their sex and gender.

Imagine being so empty and vapid that the form your body modification takes is this garish, unnatural, conspicuous plastic surgery that doesn’t even achieve the desired effect of youthful appearance, but instead signals to other rich people that you have disposable income like an expensive watch or a fast car would, except with none of the aesthetics and all the fun of constant surgery.

  • The TPU is not for you, it’s for tech companies to surveil, train, and exfiltrate your data at every level of the stack from hardware to application in a “secure” fashion. The “features” they proscribe feel forced because they are - they exist to make it seem like you’re getting the next new thing, when really the features that you actually want (like an ad-free experience and a local Windows account) have been so enshitified to hell that they functionally no longer exist.

    • The hardware manufacturer gets to sell you extra hardware you don’t want.
    • The OS vendor gets to run classification on all of your pictures, documents, and software.
    • The browser vendor gets to see every site you visit and when, every product you buy, and every porn site you watch.
    • Then, it all gets trained into a personal model that is cryptographically tied to your hardware and identity that can be queried at any time by tech companies, data brokers, advertisers, and law enforcement.

What YOU get is to ask a finders-fee-biased chatbot which product to buy, maybe some shitty mental health care, and a sycophantic buddy to patronize your ego. AI is the ultimate surveillance and advertising device.

  • Why would a retailer turn down an additional resource that drives customers to their site?

Amazon also rolled out a "Buy for Me" feature last year that surfaces products from other brands' websites and lets shoppers complete purchases without leaving the Amazon app.

    Ah, that’s why.

  • Once, in a rather affluent California town, I was stopped with the front of my car halfway in the bike lane so I could view oncoming traffic from the left, in order to pull out. I watched for several seconds as a man on a bike road straight towards me and accidentally ran into my stationary car. There was no damage, and he was unharmed.

I rolled down my window to apologize, as my car was technically in the bike lane. When I did so, this man scowled at me as if I had slapped his mother, and rode off in a huff.

I suppose the moral of this story is that anyone can be an asshole, but try extra hard to not be an asshole when you’re in the machine that can kill.

  • One of the main reasons that there is an “AI gold rush” is that tech CEOs, billionaires, and oligarchs see the possibilities it creates for inventing reality and coercing large populations. I’ve long been concerned with not just how social media influences reality, but how people treat the entire digital experience as reality. Too much significance is ascribed to what amounts to flittering colors on a screen. Information drives action; garbage in, garbage out.

“Boomers” are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to a lack of social media literacy. In developing countries where social media means the only path to Internet access, commerce, or external support, media literacy is at best a non-sequiter and at worst non-existent:

Abstract: Facebook contributed to a genocide in Myanmar. Scholars, reporters, and United Nations investigators agree that the social media giant played a role in an explosion of ethnic conflict in 2017 that led to the death and displacement of hundreds of thousands Rohingya Muslims in Northern Myanmar

Web 3.0 crashed hard, and the Internet monoliths have gone all in on AI as the next frontier of the Internet. And like the frontier of space, there is a massive wall of killer junk blocking the path and it seems like the only way forward is to launch more junk up there. I just hope we hit saturation before we’re all killed by falling debris.

  • The state can only wield sex as a weapon.

Free sexuality is an act of rebellion.

  • Miller to CNN Host Jake Tapper:

“We live in a world, in the real world, Jake, that is governed by strength, that is governed by force, that is governed by power,” he said. “These are the iron laws of the world since the beginning of time.”

Stephen Miller is a sociopath, a fascist and a deeply insecure wannabe bully with a massive inferiority complex, second only to Trump.

Make no mistake: This is it, the fascist and authoritarian takeover that history has been warning us about for 80 years. It’s back. These people will do everything in their power to make this happen, and they mean what they say. Greenland and Canada are already boosting defense spending. The world is gearing up for war in response to the belligerent Hitler-like threats from Trump and Putin.

It will be almost impossible to prevent the use of nuclear weapons in a third world war. If Trump and the neo-fascist Republican Party are not removed from power soon, they will attempt to take over our half of the world. China will take Taiwan, and Putin will shoot for Europe after support for Ukraine wanes. When they’re finished, they’ll all turn on each other.

That is where this kind of naked violence-is-the only-true-power kind of logic leads.

  • The social-media-conspiracy-to-federal-policy pipeline is becoming suspiciously short.

  • Surely you can’t be serious about this daycare fraud!

“I am serious, and don’t call me Shirley. Also, I never have sex.”

  • Badum.

    Jump
  • Because this is the police car they’ll send to your house when you say something to Copilot that they don’t like.

  • This is the kind of imperialism that caused both world wars. Stop it now, or we all die in inevitable nuclear holocaust.

  • Shorts are deliberately and effectively addictive. Once Google found out they could copy the TikTok paradigm without being sued, they forced it down everyone's throat. Ever wonder why you can't disable shorts? Because they KNOW it's addictive. We are being farmed.

YouTube is a vital tool for news and information. It should be NATIONALIZED, and purposefully exploitative technology like shorts should be BANNED.

  • Oh my GOD thank you

  • U.S. Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, posted his potential concerns, reflecting a view from the right flank in the Congress. “I look forward to learning what, if anything, might constitutionally justify this action in the absence of a declaration of war or authorization for the use of military force,” Lee said on X.

YEA ME TOO! For fucking Christ’s sake. Wouldn’t that have been nice to have for the past 20 fucking years too. Maybe then we could avoid invading poorer countries to prop up “defense” stocks. There no money for schools, healthcare, housing, medicine, or food for children, but there’s a trillion fucking dollars for the military… to INVADE VENEZUELA???

Everything Trump touches, misery follows. And now, death follows him too.

  • I can’t even tell what that word means anymore.

  • I can’t see it. Is it cloaked? Is it a tattoo of a cloaked Bird of Prey? Because that would be like you didn’t even get a tattoo, and that would be lame. That would be a lame joke of a tattoo.
