  • Usually english speakers are the candidates with the problems of homophones, because every unstressed syllable becomes a shwa.

    To demonstrate: jeebus, jeebis, jeebes, jeebos and jeebas can all sound the same in English.

    Other languages haven't the same problem.

    But even in English you would probably say /painus/ and not /peenus/, wouldn't you?

    For example in German "Penis" is pronounced with an /eh/ for the 'e' and an /ih/ for the 'i'. And Pinus has a distinct /ih/ and /oo/ . Not an /ai/ for the 'i'.

    In conclusion, it should sound distinct in many languages.

Recent and older scandals have proven, that the authoritarians in Austria, Czechia and Germany (probably elsewhere too) are receiving money and orders from Putin. They're not even nationalists in that sense, they just love fascism. Even trump with all his "America first" bs loves Putin. All enemies of democracy will work together to dismantle it.

  • A finch is is a unit I made up in my head to make sense of the weird customary system. It's 4 inch (four inch -> finch) or rather 10 cm. Makes converting my instinctive scale to USian easier. It helps, that it's also a plausible size of the finch bird.

  • I personally find peanut butter and jelly don't work together at all. But I love a good open top bread slice with butter and jelly/jam. My favourites are quince, plum, raspberry and black current jam.
