  • Obama won pretty hard though despite the racism, there were more people excited to see a black president than there were racists (although obviously there as a lot of vocal racism as well).

If Kamala tells a convincing story, I could see it working well.

  • I mean yeah, she saved kids' lives and now she's dead. She probably had a meaningful impact on a lot of people, and saying who she is and how she was important in the community helps us feel the full impact of her death.

  • If this was made law, the boomers would get public transit funded so fast.

  • I would argue the first isn't active voice

"died when the driver of a car hit her" seems passive to me. It's more accurate, but still passive.

  • But it's freely and easily available to download, why would it be on piracy sites?

  • Rent is definitely proportionally higher though, and that's much more of the monthly budget.

  • Kicks in the door, guns blazing ... official presidential business 😎

  • You relax, they were just making a point too. You did use your anecdote in a way that implied a broad sweeping point. Calm down.

  • Many teenagers are though, it's not rare. I was in JSA in high school and went to conventions full of political teenagers.

And honestly, the average teen/young adult is likely more politically engaged than the average adult. I find older adults give up as they get drained of lifeblood by capitalism. Not to mention, the most exciting political discussions tend to happen on whatever popular app hasn't been corporate-washed to death yet.

  • Suicide by cop.

  • my unhinged stranger in Christ, you brought up woman's suffrage

  • I'm not even Gen Z, I'm young millennial.

But also. Uhm. I don't think that leftists were restricting voting rights. You're coming across a lil like, Q-anon, chronically online here.

But yeah, telling people to shut up is exactly why people are like. Hm. Why support the party of "shut up"?

  • You're mad at me for saying the United States is fascist, you should be mad at the United States for being fascist.

What other word would you use to describe a country with legalized slavery and concentration camps?

  • Oh no

  • Oh you're the guy who is pretending that fascist extremeism is a new phenomenon in the United States?

Look into the history of the Japanese Concentration camps. Or our modern-day legalized slavery system, as protected by the constitution.

  • So you're kind of just imposing your opinion about the "life or death" situation thing. I see tons of posts advocating trans-medicalist views, that I would consider a life or death situation... but the comments removed are the ones using appropriately harsh language to call them out.

And yes, esp w the recent news that the shooter was a conservative. It makes sense to speculate.

  • Never seen the show, but isn't this an instance where cross-dressing is seen as a gag and not necessarily an acceptable and normal thing to do?

  • Do you have a source? California is locked in blue, but also just has a huge population.

  • This attitude is what is alienating gen Z from voting. You're basically saying "want freedom?? choose exactly who I say!!!". I'm sure you can see how it's bad optics. It plays well in the Lemmy echo chamber, but ffs pay attention to other people.

  • No Stupid Questions @lemmy.world

How do I get my suit tailored?
