  • I think this is exactly the disconnect: not everyone shares your vision of what the internet should become.

What’s really funny to me, is you go on this say that your vision is ‘correct’. Clearly people disagree with yours. Please stop using chat gpt to sound more inflated than you already are.

Not everyone wants it to be more populated for population sake. Why should I care how many MAU we have.

You say you want the good parts, but chat got isnt telling you how to keep them. By keeping it small. If you want large and popular, go back to reddit. Not every place has to be the most popular.

  • Not them, but having read this entire thread, what contra points?

Other than that, I haven’t seen much in this thread.

I see a few points of how Frances configuration for cooling may not be good, but that’s not an unsolvable problem?

At least more solvable than the energy storage problem.

    Physicist, not an engineer.

You need baseline and demand power.

Renewables like wind and solar are great for demand. As they provide power typically when usuage is peaking. But those power outputs drop when its needed most, so you still need baseline power.

Nuclear power is great at baseline, but because it takes a lot to ramp power up and down, isnt great to handle peak loads.

    Notice the team up here?

Why is it always renewables or nuclear. Both have their places.

This solves the energy storage problems as well. Less of a need for batteries with rare earth metals that are… Finite.

  • You know the steam you see at a power plant is not the steam you use to generate power right?

Otherwise why don’t aircraft carriers already fume steam like that?

Because the steam in a reactor is closed loop. Meaning there’s just what you need, not an excess in generation.

The steam you see from a power plant is a separate cooling loop.

Aircraft carriers likely just use the more plentiful, and cooler, sea water for cooling. Meaning they don’t have any excess steam to use for the catapult.

There is plenty of generated steam for other systems, but this is probably done via electric boilers, not as an excess by product of power generation.

Not an an expert by any means, but this is just using my logic and understanding from nuclear physics, from my physics degree.
