I’ve been open variable I like that my rates went up and down with prime over the last 5 years but didn’t sit at an artificial low only to poison pill me at the end of the term. I love Hollywood accounting. We collectively acknowledge it’s a very real thing because we are all not dumb but at the same time whenever we don’t agree with something we can also simply use it as a crutch.

Any language is good to start with. When you learn a language pick one that makes sense to you. The main thing you are learning is not the language it’s how to change how you think about problems. From there the differences between languages are technical and any language can be conquered in time except JavaScript because fuck JavaScript.

Keep in mind this is anecdotal but at the same time I don’t think it’s unique.

I understand the value of unions and I think the world is better off with them than without them.

Having worked in them as a teen I will say the union leadership is to not be trusted as much as the business owners. Birds of a feather. The problem is power and hierarchies.

What I also did not appreciate as a union member was being told by people who have been there longer “stop working so hard the quotas will go up and we will be expected to make more” like wtf?

I love unions in theory. In practice they’re just as corrupt because they don’t address the underlying problem if anything they put lipstick on the underlying problem.

There are always going to be pros and cons to any situation but as a Canadian I’m thankful our system is setup where the amortization is set but you redo financing regularly. I’d hate to have to buy a house and be paying a set percentage the rest of the life of the mortgage it causes situations just like this.

That said, I wish we could claim the interest paid on our homes with our taxes which we can’t.

It’s acknowledging the system is at fault and yes, if you’re white you have benefitted and your parents and relatives have all benefitted from that system.

You could be a poor as shit white person and there are still examples that can be raised on you being in a position of privilege. I find this is the largest struggle for many white people. “Well I’ve never benefitted from the systemic racism in place.” Yeah you have, repeatedly.
