  • I discovered breezy when I started using GadgetBridge since breezy can provide the weather for GB. So my Garmin gets its weather from Breezy.

  • I run mine in a VM but have USB passthrough for the Zwave and zigbee sticks. I didn't know there were POE coordinators. Do you have any you recommend? I use both zwave and zigbee

  • Yeah, I noticed that recentjy. I had lost track when it was an initial PR. Was a nice surprise

  • Everything you mention is great. However I think everyone needs GadgetBridge in their lives. Especially with the "internet helper" they're working on to allow opt-in ability to share with internet things (like they're working on supporting Endurain)

  • Cant recommend GadgetBridge enough...

  • they are a chronic thing

I assumed so, given your username 🤣

I myself am rocking a 7. Put GOS on over the summer. Don't look back at all!

  • Did you mean "just do it" and autocorrect got you? Based on the rest of the text, that is what I figure.

  • Ironic that Nextcloud AIO spins up multiple...

  • I really wish there was a good remote desktop method that supported attaching to my "local" session but keeping the displays locked. Similar to how windows RDP works.

If I have to remote into my work machine from home, I have XRDP setup to make a separate session that I can have run simultaneously to my local session. It's fine, but if I could use the existing local session that would be superb (without unlocking my local displays while I'm not there is the big point)

GNOME has RDP/VNC abilities, but in my experience a) the screen has to be awake, or else it becomes none responsive, b) it only worked with one monitor IIRC, and c) it unlocks the local display. x11vnc has issue C.

I think KDE is working on improved Wayland RDP? Haven't seen if it satisfies this. Sadly though, my work IT doesn't support Wayland

  • This is a stellar idea. I l bike to work year round, and live in a cold climate. I might give this a shot. Just gotta figure out where to find a mesh shirt

  • gestures at everything

  • I think of the difference as "work to live" vs "live to work"

  • Knobbier tires help. I ride a hybrid bike year round (its my only bike) that has 35mm tires. Last winter was my first winter riding. At first I used the older slicker tires I had, and then ate it at one point taking a turn through some slush. That weekend I bought some knobbier all season tires. They've been fantastic.

They also make studded tires that have metal/ceramic studs throughout the tires to grip on ice. From what I've heard, they're not ideal unless you're constantly riding on solid sheets of ice. Since riding on pavement will wear them down. And you cannot wheel your bike inside with them since it'll destroy interior flooring

  • Good to know. Thanks for the info. I haven't jumped yet, since wanna do research. But I agree that that is a yellow flag.

  • It's an amazing series. I highly recommend it. I like the third one the best.

  • I'm on the second Expanse book and I am fucking loving it. I absolutely love hard Sci-Fi. I think The Expanse is taking the cake for my favorite Sci-Fi book series. Before this is was The Three Body Problem series. I specifically love Death's End
