  • Curious to people that are leftist that "don't like Hasan". I see this comment a lot always when defending him but starting with that prerequisite. Do you mean you just don't enjoy his content style? If so, I can understand that.

There are things I don't like about him. But I don't really judge content creators by whether I'd be friends with them or not or whether their style is for me. For him, I like him because he serves a purpose of countering right wing and racist propaganda in a way that is most attractive to the people that are most vulnerable to it (young men). And he is clearly good at that.

I like him for that alone. He's a huge net positive in my opinion.

  • I think the point is that OP (rightfully in my opinion) realizes that that is not possible without a collapse that results in a revolution.

Our entire government and wealthy are wrapped up in defending their pedophilia. Invading US cities and kidnapping people (and foreign leaders). I think if you're not praying for a collapse at this point you are still comfortable enough to believe the lie that this system just needs "fixing" instead of a complete replacement. There is comfort in believing that. I held onto that belief for a long long time. Even knowing history was against that belief in every similar case. But it would only be for my own comfort to believe that at this point.

  • We won't if people don't fight for it. A lot of American history that is taught is white-washed bull shit. But one thing we were all taught that at least had the right idea behind it is that a generation must rise up to defend the freedoms that other generations have let be taken from them. The "freedom isn't free" crap that the right wingers like to say. Well, it's true, but they were never going to be the ones to defend it. Because that freedom was only an illusion in the first place and their illusion of it may never break. At least not while it is still easier to believe than it is to fight back.

We won't "return to sense" when the wealthy rulers of this country will always remain in power unless it is forcefully taken from them. Trump and his administration are not the end of this and are not the cause of it. They are inevitably result of it.

"Freedom isn't free" is a good response to any of your conservative friends or family that are going to criticize the actions of the people in the streets fighting against an unjust system of oppression that has reached its breaking point. Because, well, it's true.

  • I'd disagree only with that last part. His role isn't to make people think he's trying. Quite the opposite. His role is to be a dumping ground for the frustration of the Democratic party. His role is to tank the majority of the criticism. "We just need to replace Schumer", "We just need to overturn the fillabuster", "We just need to overturn citizens United", "We just need to vote blue no matter who".

The constant lies that liberal voters believe that keeps them inactive in anything but electoral politics. When you believe the system is fixable by a set of specific goals you remain fighting within that system instead of fighting against it.

  • You should stop viewing the Democratic party as anything but a controlled opposition. Are their individuals within it that are exceptions? Absolutely, any good controlled opposition party will allow a percentage of good people in it to further legitimize it. They may even be able to get small positive changes passed. Again, further keeping you believing that the system works. "We just need more good people". But that is a lie.

Uneducated people fall for the reactionary lies of the Republican party. Educated people fall for the comforting lies of the Democratic party.

There is only one party in this country and that party serves the interest of the capitalist class.

Once you accept this reality you'll be less frustrated and instead filled with rage. We need your rage to manifest into action and organization; not your frustration that only keeps you inactive.

Find DSA, PSL, or other immigrant rights organizations in your area. Learn from what Minnesota has built in its resistance and prepare with your community for when your neighbors and you inevitably are the targets. Washington is not going to stop doing what the rich command. They'll burn the whole country down around them to keep their power and pedophile islands.

  • It's because the Liberal party under capitalist democracy represents the interest of capital. The same happened in the Weimar Republic. The liberal party voted for the "enabling act" to give Hitler absolute powers. They voted for it under just the "promise" that their party would not be abolished. It was quickly abolished after.

This is the role of the "left" party under capitalist run democracy. They are nothing more than a planned opposition party. When fascism rises, they have no role to play but to maintain the illusion of a democratic system.

The Democratic party isn't stupid. It's just not serving the interest that most people expect it to. It never has.

  • If you want your name on the right side of history and written down in every history book, this is the way to do it. Ice doesn't need to even be there. Show solidarity with Minnesota and the civilian heroes that have died there.

  • Fascist will always back down from a fight that they might lose. In this case it's a fight of public shaming. The only power they have is the illusion that they have the numbers. They do not.

This is a minor loss for them but it's a good example of how to defeat them. They need to be put in a place where they cannot retreat. A true loss for fascist is not backing down from a fight. They will just use that as opportunity to show how "reasonable" they are. It's the same as their fake "reduction" in Minnesota. It's just serving to try to reduce the resistance.

Never back down and think that things will "go back" to normal. This is the failure of the liberal inside of you. Liberal democracy is dead in America. We are not going back. Keep fighting, keep shaming, until these Nazis are in a corner and outnumbered. And that includes all of the Nazis that hold the wealth of this country.

  • Start the purge

  • I'm reading mate. You're not. I already said the problem is that you still think liberal democracy is functioning. It is not. Pretending that it is is why you can't understand my perspective.

I want you to just pretend for a moment that you have accepted that there is no democracy at the federal level. It's done.

Then, think of the perspective I've given you. What is our remaining option? State government.

The only meaningful thing Sanders can do is accept that the federal government has been taken over by fascist and use his platform to encourage state governments to take a stand and organize a resistance to the fascist federal government. One way of doing that is abolishing ICE in the states.

He's not doing that. If he was, people like you would not be fooled into thinking that any legislative actions in the federal government will matter. They don't. And you're arguing for why they still do. Do you get that?

Stop explaining the political maneuvering. It makes you look silly. I get what you're talking about. I just disagree with you on a fundamental level. The legislative branch of the federal government has no power. Sanders should be shouting this and telling state governments to take action to prepare. Instead, he's pretending it's still functioning.

You can disagree with me on whether it still has power or not. But you're not. You're just talking about political maneuvering that I am fundamentally saying DOES NOT MATTER. Do you get my perspective?

  • The equivalent of what you are doing here is trying to reduce funding to the concentration camps! There are fucking concentration camps! What are we talking about? The fascist aren't defeated by a budget. They are fascist. All this serves to do is justify the existence of concentration camps.

Your problem is that you still believe the liberal institutions will turn back fascism. It will not. Please read a history book. Please understand this is exactly what the liberals in Nazi Germany did. They literally compromised with the Nazis for the "promise" of their party not being abolished. Voted on the enabling act. And then were quickly banned as a party. Please, please read a book.

Sanders needs to use his voice while he has it. Not use it to justify the existence of ICE. That is the only outcome of this. He is saying "ice should exist". That's it. That's all this does.

  • SS troops door knocking and asking for papers and liberals are still talking about "playing the game". I can't. I can't take this level of delusion.

We need a massive political movement to fix what the federal government has become. One that at this point is literally hitting the brink of armed conflict. There is no "playing the game". The game is over. The Republicans know this and the Democrats are the only ones still playing it.

The point of Bernie not compromising on what needs to be done is to SHOW that the political system is a failure. Seriously, are you still thinking ICE will be reformed with Trump as president? What is the point of starting from a compromised position that literally only serves the purpose of creating a zero substance bill that will only serve as another illusion of democracy working?

Seriously. There is nothing Bernie should be doing but calling balls and strikes. He use to do that. Now, he is an old man that is in denial of the institutions he spent his whole life defending falling apart around him. He is "playing the game" when the game is over. And it's only serving as a means for people like you to think the umpires are still there.

  • Can we stop pretending that compromising with the fascist institutions is the correct political move? Why? Why are people so stuck in the Obama mindset? It was and is a complete failure.

More Americans support abolishing ICE than oppose it!.

It is absolutely the right political move to abolish it. It's an institution younger than most Americans. Stop this "it's the right political move" bull shit. The American public does not agree with you.

  • I don't think there is a general strike that succeeds in this country without mass organization of militarized labor. They have already proven they will kidnap or kill you for defying them. What do you think their response will be towards the profits being threatened?

It will be to disrupt and destroy that movement with state violence before it starts.

We can't expect a one day or even a once a week strike to be the end. It would only be the start. Because when these strikes do not result in progress; do not feel loss. Do not accept a minor retreat of our enemy as a victory either. If we want real change then these strikes will move into armed occupation of datacenters, warehouses, and eventually the militarized strongholds of ICE. Because that is where their retaliation to strikes with violence will force anyone willing to stand up to them.

  • why?

    Jump
  • Car making a noise. Get to mechanic. Stops making the noise.

  • Are you assuming they don't detain him outside? Or do you know that that they just let him go?

  • There is an old joke about how incredibly good American propaganda was. What we are seeing now is more of a breakdown shift in the propaganda machine. It is becoming less about forming a universal belief. They have realized this is no longer possible. So, it's not about hiding the lies. It's about preventing the most people from seeing the truth.

    Anyway, here is the joke.

A KGB spy and a CIA agent meet up in a bar for a friendly drink

"I have to admit, I'm always so impressed by Soviet propaganda.

You really know how to get people worked up," the CIA agent says.

"Thank you," the KGB says. "We do our best but truly, it's nothing compared to American propaganda.

Your people believe everything your state media tells them."

The CIA agent drops his drink in shock and disgust. "Thank you friend, but you must be confused...

    There's no propaganda in America."

  • I think we can drop the "wannabe" at this point
