    He's already going to do that! I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. It's like each escalation that occurs we have liberals saying "well, yeah, we didn't do anything to resist and he still escalated; but we should still not resist because then he'll escalate even MORE! Surely, if we keep doing nothing they won't escalate to the next step"

    Do people have the memory of a gold fish? What is your line? Like, please write it down so you remember. Because the line has been crossed 100 times already.

    There is always another step of escalation. Pointing to it, in fear, as a reason to do nothing is what you are doing.

    TACO is not for Trump being reckless and cruel. He bombed Iran, he bombed fishing boats, he kidnapped a leader of a sovereign country, he has built concentration camps and is sending his SS troops door to door.

    You best hope enough wealthy capitalist convince him not to invade Greenland. Because that's the only reason he won't. Don't expect fascist to not take easy "wins" of cruelty to show power when they can.

    Fascist only back down when their capitalist owners tell them to OR when there is a chance they could be resisted and seen as weak.

  • Hey, uh, if you're the Governor of the state in which you know there are federal agents committing crimes maybe YOU should do something.

    You can literally do the bare minimum. ICE are driving recklessly, trespassing private property of American citizens and businesses, etc. They are doing it constantly. Maybe start there. Can we get the first "ICE agents ticketed for reckless driving" at the very fucking least?

    Like, something? You can use your state and city power to at the very least make things inconvenient to them.

    I'm so tired of this "they want us to resist so they have a reason to escalate". THEY ARE GOING TO ESCALATE NO MATTER WHAT! That's how we fucking got here!

    Seriously. We've got wine moms driving around and using whistles to slow them down and get attention. But the only thing the state governor can do right now is tell people "film the crimes, because we won't do anything about them right now".

You don't know if I'm in high school now or literally have a history PHD. What is the point of this?

    You know nothing about my knowledge outside of (1) I know that Adams defended the soldiers in the Boston Massacre. (2) I think you are not applying any class based historical perspective. It's why I called you a bootlicker for King George.

    Adams was a part of the rich white land owning class. It was beneficial for him at the time to defend his class position and it's why he did so. He didn't do it for some "moral" reason of justice. There was clearly no justice served for the people slaughtered in the massacre.

    So maybe stop larping as a historian. If you can't view history from the lense of class struggle then what is the point in knowing a lot of facts if you can't apply them? You sound much more like a high school history teacher than a historian. But I won't make assumptions about you like you are to me.

  • Just a reminder that the defense attorney, for the soldiers that gunned down the people during the Boston massacre, was none other than future president John Adams.

    He successfully argued they were in fear for their lives.

    American leaders have NEVER cared about the masses of people. It has always and will always defend and justify the actions of state violence as long as it benefits them to do so. The American revolution was very much just a transfer of power from the Royal British to the rich ruling class in the American colonies. And it has remained that way to this day.

    What is happening now is nothing more than the ruling class resorting to fascist acts, once again, on its own population to maintain that power.

  • Yeah. If we actually have elections again. We need the equivalent of how the USSR treated Nazis. We literally need major reeducation and reintegration measures taken on 20-25% of the country. Or something similar to what happened after the Civil War with reconstruction (but actually following through on it).

    Would also need to be simultaneously done with major industrial and infrastructure development done directly by the government. Offering actual well paid jobs to the masses. Normalizing relations with China and stop treating our largest

    And, well, I think the Dems will absolutely fail at doing that. I just don't see the path we are on ending without either a Red October or a WW2.

    You can't just have weak neoliberalism try and fail again. It will just result in the fish brain memory of the population electing someone even worse than Trump. Like Tucker Carlson.
