That website really is infected with advertisement cancer
I know it’s a very unpopular opinion but I actually like the aesthetics of infrastructure and industry.
When I see a steel mill, an oil rig or powerplants like wind parks, hydro- or nuclear power I am reminded of the human ingenuity that went into it. How many people needed to band together to work on something bigger than their tribe. I am reminded of our awe inspiring power to shape our environment completely.
Of course with great power… You know the rest.
Bullshit. I’ve read books with obvious ads in them.
That was something that gets discussed now and then in politics but no. We have a lot of ads targeted to children.
I mean as far as I know they are not doing anything inherently bad and have good intentions. So no need to feel sad.
I am just recommending to look into projects that are in dire need of funding.
Huh, you are right I’ve heard that quite a lot as a child. Either my family left that out or my memory is faulty. That would not be surprising of course
Look into it. I cannot explain this well. They actually have more than enough money. In fact they are spending recklessly in other projects because of that.
Yes we should donate if that changes but right now it would be better to donate to less well funded open projects.
Stimmt zwar auf jeden Fall und ist ein großes Problem, aber die Kosten für Privatzahler sind nicht zu vergleichen zwischen den USA und Deutschland.
Never heard that one in my life. Maybe a regional thing?
Man warted diese Anlagen nicht? Ist mir neu.
Wasn’t the iris something the military built after relocating the gate? If so maybe it was never found before. I mean it is in Ohio…
It can be rotated, no? Doesn’t seem to be in a working state right now.
And it is amazing! Especially further north in like -20°C
Like any cat, Linux is actually liquid and can flow over the whole sofa if it so chooses.
It could be a good product. I neither hate it nor like it.
I personally know someone in advertisement and viral marketing is more widespread than I think people realize. That is why I would like people to be sceptical about stuff that gets recommended with this kind of frequency (and IMHO with text in a tone that I’ve read in actual viral marketing campaigns) especially if the product is commercial.
This method of advertising is used because it works and as you can see by the backlash here merely suggesting that it could be an ad and asking people to be sceptical/cautious is taken as breaking a social taboo.
Why? I am not living in the us but it’s a useful phrase.
