  • I have stopped using booking.com and a few other sites like this because of similar issues. The last time I went thru them they have used an incorrect name on the reservation and it took weeks of phone calls to get the hotel to refund the reservation. I was in a position where I either got a refund and rebooked or showed up and was turned away. It sucked. Never again.

  • My father and stepmother were full tilt into this quackery. Today they don't talk about it as much, but they do talk about politics an awful lot. I'll let you figure out where they fall on the political spectrum.

  • I have a friend who is self-employed. He uses an iPhone and a MacBook Air. He only uses iMessage, Numbers, Safari and Apple Music for entertainment. He gets away with 8gb just fine and rarely has to reboot.

He probably could use a Chromebook or something even lighter, but the support and ecosystem were enough for him to pay the premium. His time is valuable to him so it was worth it to him.

  • Accurate.

  • What is the obsession with shitting on people's choices? I don't understand the irony of demanding choice in this industry, then shitting on people when they make a choice you don't agree with.

  • I actually like Apple’s approach to AI more than all of the others. I don’t care for Microsoft’s implementation at all. I just try to avoid Microsoft in general on top of that, so no need to complain about it.

But I do think Apple’s approach to AI from a privacy and implementation perspective is what I would prefer from a software vendor.

  • I guess I need to start looking deeper into this, and the potential for importing existing infrastructures into pulumi's purview. But I'm hesitant - I don't want pulumi to pull a Hashicorp. I'm wondering if it's best to just go with CFN and Bicep.

  • ...was.

  • That doesn't mean they will be around forever. Economic realities care little about whether a company is good or not.

  • VGER is coming back.

  • Thanks, Zuck, we were all waiting with bated breath for your statement.

  • Absolutely same. I hate having them in my house, supporting them, and dealing with them when they shit the bed because they're too underpowered to run a fucking web browser. School systems need to stop buying these goddamn things and stop caving to slimy salespeople selling Chrome plugins for schoolwork.

  • You're not missing anything. It's rife with scammers.

  • Good luck finding talent who wants to work for Elon Musk

  • It's really not as bad as people portray. Most sites do work in Safari. There are some problems, but they've been pretty good about licking them over time. It's passable enough that I only have to punt to an alternate browser once in a while.

I've tried to use Firefox, I really have. But Firefox absolutely murders my battery and I'm sorry, but they need to do some serious usability improvements... especially around the container implementation and tab management. It's confusing as fuck (to me).

  • UbiSoft needs to get comfortable with execs not making sales targets.

  • Sadly, it is a trend.
