  • Except most of the Founding Fathers were Deists. The churches of the time were mostly semi-Puritanical, and to an Evangelical, would be an absolute horror. A church that held so strictly to doctrine that they punished everyone for anything sinful, actually cared for the poor and sick (if only to bring them into the fold), and preached damnation and punishment in Hell. Stark contrast to the newer Prosperity Gospel (aka Grift), philandering, do what I want to whom I want and ask forgiveness at the end Evangelicals. The Founding Fathers were against religious control because they knew they wouldn’t be able to do much, or lose their power, as it would be seen as sinful. Now the Church has become so damn corrupt it now gives politicians a pass so long as it brings the Church more money. At this point I’m waiting on a holy war or two and a schism of power to eliminate the Church’s power again…

  • If you live in America, you know that guy who says shit like, “I’m not racist, but…”, then the guy who thinks women are inferior, then the guy who is all out racist, then the Christian guy who’s told America’s Religion is at stake, then the guy who owns stocks and sees Republicans as his route to eternal wealth, and then ratio that into each American’s collective of acquaintances. Then of all the other people left, only 40% of them bother to vote. Harris could have won probably if more registered Dems bothered to vote. But we all look at the bigots and groupthink takes over, as no way those assholes could win anything.

  • If we don’t attempt democratic socialism then capitalism will bring absolute poverty to the economy (we’re already so close, but people aren’t eating leather yet), which will lead to revolt, rebellion, and lots of death. Then a most likely scenario will be Communism, where things will likely look good at first, then quickly fall backwards. Then more revolt, then fractured states. We’re about 50 years away from being the Northern States of America, with all kinds of squabbles, different laws, sketchy trade deals, etc. All this will likely end in the worst scenario: Texas is claimed by Mexico and Texans will all be refugees fleeing to other states.

  • I replaced mine with a Sensi. 4 months with Nest, and it decided to confuse hot vs cold signals. Middle of August, it tried to “cool” my house at 3am, instead turning on the furnace, and just kept on going due to the temperature rising. For a week straight, I awoke to 90 degree temps in my house at 3:30 to 4am, and a nice heating bill. I had an hvac friend come over ad tell me in fact, yep, it’s sending signal to furnace, not ac. He checked the wiring, all good. He admitted he knew little of Nests, but said only an idiot would design a thermostat that could allow for a hot/cold signal switch without rewiring.
