HW/FW security researcher & Demoscene elder.

I started having arguments online back on Fidonet and Usenet. I'm too tired to care now.

  • Trivia: The ice creams spell out sort-of a sentence in mixed scandinavian/English:

    "Hvad alena pptiny yes<3"

Hvad = what alena = alone pptiny yes

  • If there's ever been a good usecase for AI it would be to recreate Mustaine's pre-stenosis singing voice onto the albums made since.

  • I tried one for a good while but can't say I noticed any benefit. What did work though was regular old SSRI medication which I'm now on year round (going off them in the summer just brings side effects) instead.

  • Solar production during sunny days is regularly above grid consumption making the price of that energy "free". Of course, unless you're the one with that solar production then you still need to pay someone to get that energy to you.

  • ... esp. since they'll need to run at extremely low speeds due to the difficulty in cooling them.

I'm starting to think Musk doesn't understand that "space is cold" won't help here.

  • Internet and games. Stay inside sober and have fun - including chatting with possible partners - instead of going out drinking trying to get laid.

/GenX who did the drinking variant. Gen Z has it better.

  • It should be fine as long as you have a decent amount of RAM (8GB or up) and use Linux as the OS for the services.

  • Why is it a bad thing that employees can't pretend to do something they're not?

If you're doing a good job, managers don't care if you spend the afternoon at a café.

    /ex manager

  • .. yeah. That'll pay the salaries for these excellent open source developers, allowing them to work on something that brings benefit to Linux usage in secure environment.

    /cybersec professional

  • On the contrary this sounds awesome from a cybersec perspective. If this is how we can get that work funded - great!

  • Yeah this did wonders (here in Sweden) for my two neurodivergent kids who no longer had the safety of being able to reach us parents when the school did not do as promised during the days.

    ffs

  • I think you're leaving out lots of information for those who have never heard about her to have an opinion either way.

  • "Land of the free"

  • All RTO mandates are about firing people without saying it loud for the financial markets.

  • I dated a 20 year old when I was 34.

I often hear I'm "not like my friends' parents" from my own kids now that I'm 51.

No one has to become like their own parents just because they get older. As long as it's something that you do because it's who you are instead of trying to act younger - where it just becomes cringe - that's "your age".

    /GenX: We just don't gaf.

  • Bluesky is like X. Owned by american venture capitalists. EU needs something for official communication that's neither under US nor under commercial control.
