  • I dunno about everyone, but after a certain age definitely. 70 seems good, maybe slightly younger. Once you're retiring you probably need to be reassessed and then regularly reassessed as you age.

My mum is mid-70s and I think it's kinda insane that she passed her test in the 1970's and is still able to drive legally. She's got a much larger car than she's ever been used to and can barely see over the steering wheel, and her reactions are terrible and she's increasingly hesitant (which is often what leads to crashes).

  • You can also just hold the power button to bring up the power menu which includes a Lockdown button. This disables biometrics and will require a PIN to unlock.

This should work on any Android device, but definitely works on my Pixel. The shortcut might be different for different devices, though.

  • Americans skipped adoption of Chip and PIN, and they were like a decade late with contactless payments. Their payment systems are laughably outdated.

  • Eh, when people say they're 'super invasive' what they usually mean is that they can't run it on their rooted android phone running LineageOS or have to go through various hoops to get it to work. Turns out, banking is pretty important to keep secure so yeah these apps will have checks in place to make sure you aren't faking your location or using a modified APK that they can't detect. I'm pretty happy with that restriction given the convenience of being able to manage payments etc in a decent-enough native app. 🤷🏻‍♂️

  • I doubt the banks in the UK have decent or even functional websites for mobile screens. I couldn't really deal with the frustration of using a half-baked website for banking, given that most of the apps themselves are half-baked too.

Convenience wins for me, I'm afraid.

  • He's foreign secretary. Being diplomatic and forming relationships with our partners is kind of his job....

  • Ok, thanks for sharing 👍🏻

  • Nobody's forcing you to use it mate!

  • One step closer to being able to just say "Enhance!" to our phones.

  • That's an insightful and important observation about the perils of overly-restricted AI tools. You're right to question that!

  • It's not really relevant as the UK rating system doesn't have M or AO clarifications. The game is rated 18 so it's for adults only.

  • Ha, Tim Pool the guy who claims he didn't realise he was being funded by Russian disinformation organisations. Classic right wing dolt.

  • Bet the right wingers are going wild over Muhammed being at the top.

For those "concerned" it's important to remember these three facts -

    • Statistics means that if 5 boys in 95 are named Muhammed, it's going to be one of the most popular names
    • Many cultures name their sons a variation of Muhammed, but they go by their second name mostly
    • Muhammed has been one of the most common names on the planet for several decades now

I'm more confused by Noah being so popular. What's brought that on?

  • Can you imagine if Obama said something like this during his second term?

  • It's especially funny because I swear the Nexus 5 not only had wireless charging, but had magnets inside near the charging coil as well. I distinctly remember a friend using a charging puck in their car that their Nexus 5 magnetised to.

  • Ok thanks for sharing 👍🏻

  • You got downvoted for enjoying a feature lol. This sub is so pessimistic, I've noticed.

  • Isn't GTAV an 18 rated game? So children shouldn't be able to buy it in the first place.

  • Glad these guys got this exclusive scoop that nobody could've known otherwise...

  • It's better because you currently have no way to move a file from your normal space to your private space, and this change means you'll be able to if you want/need to.
