feddit.org's Zionist bar problem: community ban(s) vote

    Jump
  • Guy from the "evil zionist instance" here. Yeah no, this strong radical language should not be rationalized as something constructive. db0 mods shouldn't meddle in the moderation of feddit from what I can see is clearly language that turns the discussion bad faith. There's space for constructive discussion but pretty much none of the examples shown here are.

  • Hopefully they only increase prices in the US. I don't want customers from other countries like in the EU make up for Trumps stupid tariffs.

  • But they are?

  • But.... They already have text channels pretty much figured out and are on better calling rn with Element Call

  • I agree that smaller communities might care more about the users, but they often heavily depend on single individuals which is a heavy risk factor long term imo

  • Well its not discord so ofc there's not as much traffic. And the decentralized listing is just part of the decentralized nature of it. Lemmy also doesn't have as much traffic as reddit yet here we are

  • Yeah ofc Stoat is too, I'm just saying what I like about Matrix. I just personally don't know of any third party Stoat clients but I also haven't looked into it since I'm accustomed to Matrix. I checked their page but its pretty bare bones on information

  • Just use the Element client on desktop and Element X on mobile. Use the Matrix.org homeserver by the matrix foundation if you don't know any other/better choice for you personally. Bam and you're in. I actually really value the choice in clients tho. With the decentralized way of Matrix there's lots of options but just pick the mainstream once for starters

  • Wait but isn't matrix.org available to anyone now?

  • Because its federated, is also a really nice messaging replacement and is E2EE. If I only want a discord replacement without anything else I'd consider stoat, but really I feel like Matrix just checks so many more boxes. I've used Matrix for a long time now. Also since its FOSS anyone can build a client for it and you can make it yours

  • No when it came to things like chat control they've always been very firm. SPD or CDU keep trying to increase government oversight. Their closeness to lobbies is very bad but still I think a party that is for individual rights and looks out for a mostly free economy (without compromising social services) is a good thing. The boogeyman Lindner is gone now. I hope they come back despite how unpopular they are in many circles

  • They are for sure better than AfD or BSW. They are not nearly as bad even if you dislike them. They are no threat to democracy. They deserved the election loss last time, but the core of the party should have a place in german democracy. This might be where we disagree and its fine. The other parties were also preparing for the coalition breaking apart, the FDP just had a stupid title and inverted pyramid which made voters lose trust in them. They are different to SPD or Greens which is why we saw so much friction between them. But Olaf Scholz knew that the FDP would never support an end of the debt break and thus his ultimatum was his decision to end the coalition. Its good that the debt break is losend but the current government spends money in consumptive ways which is bad long term for our debts as interest payments will keep increasing. France is currently forced to push through an unpopular saving plan since they never stopped making debt and if we don't look out we might at some point have to make decisions they're making

  • I know most people on this platform are left leaning. I have yet to see proof that they are any more corrupt than any other party. Its just that they are especially strong on corporate economic interest in many cases which makes many see them unfavorable. I still think its good to have only so much regulation as needed but otherwise let the market of ideas play mostly free

  • I know this might be a really unpopular statement for some. But I actually think a democratic (neo)liberal party like them in parliament is a lot better than having other populist parties like AfD or BSW. I believe they deserved what happened to them last election but our democracy is worse off if they fall out completely. All the restrictive proposals towards surveillance just show me that individual rights are quickly forgotten or brushed aside often in the name of "protecting children"

  • I like Zen browser, it's a fork of Firefox. AFAIK its not based in any single jurisdiction. And as a search engine I like Qwant. They have a pretty minimalistic design, value my privacy and are building a European Search Index with Ecosia.

  • I like element honestly, it has everything I need. Element call as a recent implementation is nice for that sort of thing. It also supports screen sharing

  • No like fake generated ID. This is decent for face scans tho

  • Vintage Story, soon Hytale bit for bit. Also there are just mods for Minecraft to circumvent chat blocks

  • Yeah.... No how about we just stop using Discord and move to something more decentralized like Matrix
