Well the german feddit.de stopped working where I initially was after the reddit exodus thing. Feddit.org became the best successor. They have a sensible block list and a lot of german and european communities so I like it here. And I think the mod team is doing a pretty good job
That's why FOSS is like the only real way to avoid enshittification. There is less of a profit incentive. And if the original team or project sells out forks are always an option. Sadly even with traditional hardware item or household machines things are created in a way were they break after a few years once they're out of warranty so you have replacement. On that note there's a stream of a light bulb that's more than a hundred years old and still continuously running
Really loved that read. I really have to agree and I kind of forgot about this. In recent years I feel like we really have become extremely Individualist and dare I say it Isolationist on a human level. I spent a year in the US and felt like it was a lot more easy going starting a talk with strangers. But now in Germany I moved recently and it does feel pretty isolating. But my mind keeps telling me reasons not to connect. It feels strange if I just approach a random person to talk. Even if there is so much to be gained I have no idea and most people look busy or like just worried of their own. I wish to revert this trend but idk how
In Germany I'd say in nearly all occasions cars would stop if I actively walk towards the crosswalk. If I just stand on the side and look and wait its not that uncommon that cars still don't yield even if they should
Just buy ebooks from sites that don't fucking you over in the future. If you already have a kindle its annoying but pocketbooks and other eReaders are right there.
Honestly I used to want to do YouTube and I had a pretty bad user name prior. So I once like 5 years ago or so spent the entire night going through potential names and combinations in my head until I had one that sounded right towards my liking: timestatic
I wanted something that didn't resemble anything else like an object but was its own unique thing. I'm still pretty happy with it. It was available everywhere except Minecraft and Twitch which pissed me off at the time since Minecraft was my main game then. I think I named myself RealTimestatic or sth similar back then there
They probably have been working on a potential agreement with openai for a while now. They just hastily finished it in response to anthropic. But I don't know if they will keep the red lines anthropic has demanded in place
Just forbid any user from any place that has these laws from using your OS through your ToS but don't implement a way to check who uses it.
