  • You joke, but ... fore many white men these job prospects (cop, immigration office, jail guard) are a reality. The factories have all moved away. If you're a contractor, doing roofing or painting for example, you're competing against illegal immigrants that work under the table.

  • Don't worry the Dem's won't figure it out, LOL. The party is stuck in 1990.

"...all you have to offer young men is a lecture on their unearned privilege..." This, ten thousand times this. But, the Democratic party really has nothing to offer men ... please don't shoot the messenger. Blue collar work is hard, it chews up the body, saying you're bringing these jobs back isn't a recipe for hope.

  • Exactly this. A small organized group of ultra rich, making everyone's life miserable. Buying up social media, newspapers, TV and spreading their dumb propaganda. Fox 'news' started it, Musk kept going with Twitter.

  • Trump is fine with concentration camps. Who is going to staff them? If he forces the National Guard to do it, the people in the National Guard arn't going to be too happy, it's not fun work.

  • Could have settled into a northern Europe socialist type country. Good social safety net, good labor laws. Instead the country is going the way of petty, central American, dictatorships.

  • As with all elections. The youth don't come out, but the elderly do. Elections are decided by retired people.

  • Why nine barrels?

  • A military takeover of the cities would last about 20minutes, if that, it's against the HOA rules.

What happens when the wealthy home owners see their property values drop, because the army is on every corner, they'll start calling their political reps.

This is a childish fantasy, the highest real estate values are in cities, the wealthiest people have homes in cities. It is a fantasy of the Republic base, that tends not to live in large urban centers.

  • In 1776 Americans went to war with England to preserve slavery in the colonies ... fixed that for you.

  • Another bullshit article spouting the same bullshit "Expand Career and Technical Education: Increase investment in vocational schools and CTE programs that provide hands-on learning and practical skills. Studies show that boys who attend technical high schools can see earnings up to a third higher. These programs prepare students for high-demand careers in trades like electrical work, plumbing and carpentry."

It's all about creating good worker bees.

What is needed; 1)Free universal healthcare for all people, not dependent on anyone's job. 2)Housing for all homeless people. 3)Funded food banks.

What is needed for education: 1)Better funding.

What is needed for the lower middle class: 1)Laws that allow for unionization. 2)Nationalization of many of the key industries such as railways, ports, hospitals. 3)Insurance such as home and auto through public government bodies. 4)A national, public, bank that has a high interest saving's account and no bank fees.

  • In a years time, will learn that rich billionaires like Elon Musk are propping up this stock. Think of all the speculators playing this stock because it's so volatile.

  • 39 minutes...that's really troubling. It's not like 1 song or 2 short songs, to take a few impromptu questions as people filled out. That's almost an hour of some sort of severe breakdown.

  • Copyright is whatever makes the wealthy wealthier. They'll be copyright reform, but only to protect these new industries.

  • The Renaissance in Italy was paid for by the emerging banking industry, the Medici family is a good example of what happened. If you want large public works, and people like Leonardo da Vinci, then you also get families like the Medici. You can't separate the two. So not just USA-centric.

"sweat of the subsistence farmer or the feudal peasant/slave was what built the foundations of most countries", it was also access to different resources. Mining for silver in some areas, sheep and wool production in others, forestry in others ... already by the 13th century the Hanseatic League had a large trade network in most of Europe (from the Mediterranean in N. Italy through Germany into the sea and along the coasts of the North sea and the Baltic sea to Norway Sweden Finland and Russia.

  • 'deprogram'...'barred from having contact with their protective parent'.

This will be decades of lawsuits and millions of dollars.

  • On the bright side, more people using VPNs.

  • The USA has a bs mythology that it was founded by 'pioneers' and that a wild wild west existed. The untold history of the USA is really the story of finance. Those that financed, the joint stock companies that helped to bring immigrants over. The land speculators, and recruiters that brought over Irish and other immigrants over in the 19th century, through money provided by rail and steam companies. These type of post-apocalyptic memes perpetuate the stereotype of a self-made country. When in reality financiers from England were offshoring labor to a country with fewer regulations and no copyright/patent laws.

  • I think we need to normalize alternative landscaping. Think tall and thin sumac with lots of mulch on the ground. Once in a year dump lots of mulch and don't mow anything. If you don't like gardening, and don't spend time outside, just plant large bushes and mulch. I see so many people around that just don't care about their lawn, and do the easiest thing so it looks like everybody else's.

  • Neighbor cuts their postage stamp lawn with a loud lawn mower for 30 minutes. When they finish the next neighbor thinks to themself, 'I should cut my lawn', and starts a loud mower. When they finish the next neighbor starts. ALL Saturday. One after the other! Can't you all just do it at the same time! Why can't you use a push mower on a lawn that is smaller than a car parking spot! Why does it take you 30minutes, of using loud power tools, to cut a lawn the size of a car parking spot!!!
