  • A quality hand truck and a couple furniture dollies come in handy much more often than you might think.

    If you're the DIY type, make sure you buy a non-contact voltage tester pen ('beepstick'). It beeps when it is in proximity to electricity.

  • My cleanouts are PVC. All you get is the stick. I've learned that as soon as they're located, put a couple bricks and a lawn ornament on top.

    Edit: misread... you can definitely find the shutoff with a metal detector. Mine will twist your ankle though, no mystery where it is.
