  • I don't, no.

  • To either not have the posts button when on your feed, not have an inbox button when on your inbox etc

Or just have the posts button not do anything when you are on your feed. Currently it acts like the communities button and it is annoying accidentally tapping it and losing your place.

  • Can you make this pop up also appear if you tap "posts" at the bottom if you are already in "posts"

If I am browsing and then I accidentally hit the "posts" tab at the bottom it reverts back to the communities list away from my current browsing. In my mind tapping this posts button when I'm already viewing a feed should do nothing as I am already viewing posts but instead it acts like the communities button at the top so this pop up or a change in behaviour would be greatly appreciated for me :)

  • This song was my introduction to "alternative" music when I was about 12 / 13 and really opened up the world of music in my young mind and started me on a journey of actually enjoying music as prior to that I didn't really care!

  • That is the thing, I am into what is quite a niche genre and it is very "exclusive" within the scene let alone encompassing multiple streaming platforms. Half of the stuff that gets released does so in limited runs of often 100 - 500 vinyl copies which i fucking hate personally as to me it is just the wanky scene "heads" creating a false sense of rarity to jack each other off over which tracks they own on an inferior media type in a genre that is electronic music. It is all made on computers so it isnt like digital copies dont exist.

But I digress this attitude within that scene adds another layer of a lot of the people into it being at best apathetic towards things like digital and streaming and as such everything that does get released usually does so only on Spotify. Dont get me wrong there are plenty of labels and artists that do support the digital release side of it well but even everything that is release digitally to buy won't get released on streaming platforms.

I regularly search the libraries of alternatives but so far the selection for me does not get even close to what is released on Spotify. I try my best to buy what music I can via bandcamp and that is my primary music platform (just take a look at my post history) but I dont have a lot of money so music is not a priority for where it gets spent.

I conversely see a lot of people say what you have just said and I think that is a product of having either a more mainstream taste or just being into genres that embrace streaming more than my specific tastes. I dont believe supporting the platform will help in my case because it is down to the artists to choose what platform they are on and they generally seem to be resistant to that in the first place.

  • Good to know for the future, thanks! Did it at least supply you with a good quality flac as that is the main draw away from Spotify for me currently as I can only get 320 mp3s from Spotify.

Tidal is the only one I haven't checked the library for so far but to be honest my expectation is low as the artists I listen to never list tidal as a streaming service they use. Mainly Spotify and rarely deezer is what I tend to see.

YouTube music has great selection but trash quality.

  • Qobuz library is shite though. I'd switch in a heartbeat to Qobuz or Deezer if they had comparable libraries but as it is I maintain a subscription to a streaming service solely to rip tracks for my library / to share on soulseek so Spotifys library trumps everything else still unfortunately.

  • You and me both and the very tiny amount of phones available right now with keyboards are just not that great. Blackberry still made the best phones ever IMO, the KeyTwo was fucking awesome.

  • Yeh, no port forwarding for torrenting is why I moved away.

  • For whatever reason my first thoughts was Opiuo - Meraki

If I were a jellyfish I'd be bopping to this as I swam around the ocean xD

  • Yes, i am running the beta currently.

  • So I found a way to reliably replicate this issue. After a reply and it shifts to the smaller version with black borders if I open another reply it will shift back to how it should look, cancelling out of the reply will then zoom out to the smaller version with black borders again. Great!

So I have screen recorded me doing this but watching the recording back the issue does not present in the recording. I have no idea why but I'm kind of at a loss with that!

  • It isn't like the community is active, make a drugs community on a different instance and build it up from there. Too many communities reside on .world as it is and any efforts to make the fediverse less centralised only benefit us as a whole IMO.

On top of that a subject like drugs is more likely to be removed or censored by .world Adkins in the future in the same way that they did with piracy in the past.

There are regular fedigrow posts I see on /all so get yourself on a better more sane instance and grow a community there, posting on the fedigrow posts to gain some visibility. I will happily join in, I believe there are also drugs communities on .ml you might wanna check out :)

  • *saving up all those future purchases in my wish list waiting for that Friday each month *

  • I appreciate it a lot and have saved this comment for the future!

I'm glad we can come around to an understanding too, to sort of illustrate why I reacted as such this comment from this thread kind of epitomises what it can be like trying to get into the Linux space and learn as a complete newbie sometimes and it is very fucking tiring. I realise not everyone is like that and there are plenty of people that provide a lot of help but it is also very tiring and off putting when you are new to a space and you are met with attitudes like this.

    Have a good day :D

  • No, I am intending to take that course next year, any tips?

  • Yeh that is fair enough, maybe I worded it wrong in the first place as it is more that right now I dont have the time or motivation to do the learning due to everything else going on in life and I do conceded that I did jump first to condescension but that was based more on a lot of previous interactions I have had within the broader Linux community so I apologise if that was not your intention but "sounds like a skill issue" is a usual dismissive response that is often meant to be condescending.

I have put a lot of time in the last year into learning Linux to get to a place where I have proxmox running as well as a NAS and that was all from a place of zero prior knowledge and that was a steep learning curve and I think I am some what jaded from that experience going forward too due to some interactions and how not easy to follow documentation is for someone entirely new to the space.

I do appreciate the offer and maybe in the future I could take you up on the offer when I have more time and mental capacity to put back into furthering my learning within this space. Apologies for jumping straight to an assumption of your position based on previous interactions if that wasnt your intention, it just came across as such.
