Which tells me exactly as much about the contents as picking it up would: almost nothing.
There's always one of you in the unnecessary pack fill discussions and I have to ask, do you really know the difference between 12oz of candy, and 10oz? And can you point out the weight on this packaging for me?
I wont cast a judgement one way or another on how to approach this, but just know that it is an incredibly common rule. Every girlfriend I had growing up had this same rule, or even more strict. For one I wasn't allowed in her bedroom at all when I came over.
It sounds like your parents are perfectly including your identity in their decision. I know from experience that the rule sucks, especially when you aren't even planning to do anything and just want to hang out in a comfortable space. But it is common, and quite reasonable considering how other parents might approach it.
I don't think there's much of a market for new stand-alone pedometers anymore, with phones and smart watches doing the job much more accurately and conveniently these days.
If you want vintage ones, I really liked the digimon ones back in the day, and there's also the pocket pikachu or pokewalker that had some integrations with the mainline games. They're quite expensive now, though.
The Internet is a big place with plenty of value in it still. If all you do is scroll the big 5 brainrot sites, then yeah you're probably not going to find a ton of enrichment, but that doesn't mean 'Internet bad'. That's almost like saying 'food is bad for you'
If you really want to make a difference, contribute to the spaces on the Internet that are good rather than avoiding it all together
Lots of motives, ranging from well-meaning editors trying to use it to help them improve, all the way to government propaganda machines trying to control narratives.
My personal pet theory is LLM companies themselves trying to poison the well of public information, so that you're forced to use AI instead of traditional search/sites.
My behavior has already started shifting towards asking AI because I know google results are already flooded with AI nonsense, so I might as well use the latest model and ask it directly. But the last thing we need is our access to information tied up in an AI blackbox
I just found out my boss would scroll imgur directly. I only ever knew it as the image host of choice on reddit. Very rarely I'd click thru an imgur link to an album and then stay on the site to scroll a few more images, but that's it.
Oh, so that's the problem. You don't understand the point of the conversation
