I still remember the first time I heard the word “email.” Two friends that worked for the city government were discussing an email they recieved from a supervisor. I remember asking, “what the hell is, what do you call it, E-M-A-I-L?”

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Why do iphone users still see their phones as a status symbol
1·7 months agoThe only reason I have an iPhone is because our car only has Apple CarPlay installed (or whatever it’s called). I can never go back to mounting my phone on the dash and using the tiny phone screen for maps and music.

1019·7 months agoI used to watch LTT all the time. I stopped watching some years back after he installed a six figure Wi-Fi system on his “estate.” I had enjoyed watching a relatable everyman review computer hardware, and more often than not break things. I didn’t sign up to watch a millionaire dick around with exotic tech in his McMansion.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How do people develop feelings for someone?
81·1 year agoAfter reading your responses, I think you’re basically asking how to casually date friends, right? For casual dating/sex, stay away from friends. It can ruin the friendship or even the entire circle of friends. There’s always the “friends with benefits” thing, but even that often ends badly. For casual dating, stick with strangers. Aren’t there a ton of apps for that sort of thing?

2·1 year agoHow do people feel about e/OS? I just started playing around with it on an old phone and it seems to work with most apps, including banking and Google apps (their store has an optional Google login).

Same situation for me. I’m hoping a forward thinking cell provider can develop something to combat this. I guess dummy phone numbers wouldn’t work, at least not in large cities since they already run out of phone numbers and have to invent new area codes. Maybe provide customers with unlimited extensions?
