That's old news in research circles. ADHD has features you may or may not have: impulsivity, hyperactivity, and inattentiveness. Supposedly these traits are from a weakness in the brain that controls the "turning off" of other parts of the brain-- that is, you can't suppress as easily the thoughts and behaviors. I'm simplifying, btw, and why things like Adderall sometimes works or not kinda depends on what's causing that weakness (e.g. neurotransmitter uptake, underdeveloped section of brain, etc).
Now, imagine where creativity comes from. When your brain gets to just run without suppression, you think of weird shit. Those untethered thoughts can lead to creative inspiration, outside the box thinking, and so on.
There's other strengths to ADHD, too. Impulsivity under another label is initiative. Hyperactivity under another label is high energy. ADHD is often defined by how inconvenient it is for neurotypical folks, but it shouldn't. I mean, job posts frequently call for high energy free thinkers with initiative--- little does HR know they're asking for folks with ADHD! Lol
I'm playing through an old PS2 title Radiata Stories. I don't get why this title is so overlooked! It's really fucking funny to play in 2025 cause its weirdly apt with nepotism, classism and going to war over wage theft (kinda, anyway).
I'd certainly welcome more people to my state, but it's not perfect. CA does have some of the best policies and is often a trendsetter, but plenty of bad ones get by, too, like propositions passed with sneaky language. We got flack for the prison slavery one that was a proposition, for instance.
Still miles above some other states though. I genuinely am concerned for places like Oklahoma, Florida, Arkansas, Mississippi, etc., especially since I'm an education professional...
Good examples from others but I also want to bring up microaggressions. Basically, small things that add up, like a white woman gripping her bag tightly when a black man enters an elevator, or a white man crossing the street because a Latino guy is approaching who looks a little "gangy." Usually they aren't that progressive (e.g. they support diversity but critical race theory is a bridge too far).
That said, prejudice is something we all have and is part of human nature. It protects us historically from things like snakes and spiders who may not be venomous but on the off chance they are, better safe than sorry. Prejudice leads to stereotypes, stereotypes lead to discrimination. Conscious effort is needed to overcome that, and progressives do that better than not but no one is fully immune to your natural instincts.
I didn't mean to make any claim, lol, 5 seconds would be nothing and I'm trying to be funny in the vain it no O2 being not a big deal at 5 seconds.
We had an ozone crisis before, although it is serious if it's something closer to an hour. People got sunburned in 15 minutes quite easily, though, and skin cancer is linked to it.
The atmosphere does block a lot of cosmic ray junk, but that's a collective effort. I forget the details, but think very high frequency gamma rays. But that's not ozone alone.
I agree, although I never quite know how to toast them without waiting to thaw. That, and I get the kind that aren't precut so I imagine I need to thaw before cut, or cut before freeze, etc.
My wife still tries to if I let her put away groceries, and admittedly they to get moldy fast sometimes. Heating them does undo some of the staleness, though I'd prefer to just eat them all asap after purchase.
My dad is the only one who goes to games there on occasion but he takes a train, mostly because he's a wild alcoholic and knows he can't afford another DUI.
LA has terrible public trans infrastructure but this is one of very few places with a reliable line... and yet still everyone would rather drive. Ugh.
Ah our 3yo did that for a while a year ago, it's very upsetting. At least yours snaps out of it quickly, ours would go for a half hour but I managed to calm her with numbers. We would count upwards as high as we could switching places and she'd calm down. Side effect, she can count past 100 now.
Oh, also it's apparently similar to sleep walking. Apparently they'll do that eventually.
Thank you for doing the homework. Normal photos can get very weird with perspective and lenses, and to say there's a handful of ICE fans in this world isn't much of a stretch. It's gross, but not necessarily AI.
Wouldn't put it past them to photoshop a sign, though I heard there's been small counter protests in the area just like there was in LA. They're a pretty small minority though, lol
Nevermind the way the woman or her sign looks, that background is fucking wild. I think I'd need to see a street view of that weird fucking place before I'd believe this isn't AI lol
Anyone else get their best coding done between the hours of 10pm to 6am when we're finally enjoying peace?
During grad school, I analyzed my dissertation data in the restricted access room late at night while binging Star Trek TNG and Voyager on my laptop. I'd then go to my 7am meetings with my early bird boomer advisor for my RA job and immediately crash once I got home.
You're in it for a while. My oldest is a night owl somehow but my youngest is hitting 2 and wakes me up at all 3 times (I think he gets up at 5 but only wakes me when hungry, like a cat).
I don't think it'll get better until they're out of the house.
I vaguely remember elf and dwarf were, uh, classes in some games. But the AD&D one I remember had them as races, but you had interesting classes like.. Magic-User. I vaguely remember having 8 hp on one? Oof.
Welp, I guess they don't need the money now...
