Not exactly, at least in the US. If you're in at all during war time (even boot camp) you get a national defense medal. If you deploy at all you'll get a medal for the campaign. Kiss enough ass, medal or ribbon (sometimes a nice letter). Don't get caught drinking and driving for 3 years, that's a good conduct medal, do it again and you get a little bronze star on the medal, collect 4 stars and you get a silver star on it.
The combat related ones are combat action ribbons, which don't require confirmed kills, just that you were in combat. Purple heart and high honor medals like bronze star and MOH don't require it either... But it probably increased your chances.
We've got guns ready to rock at our place. They're not there for someone who rings the doorbell and waits at the front door. That shit is for the people who aren't knocking, and probably aren't coming to the front door. Only time I've thought of where the guns are is the cars that stop in front of our place and the driver has a professional camera (turns out it was real estate stuff and they were taking pics of every house). And the time some road raging asshole was following my partner home and trying to run them off the road. Fortunately, my partner lost them.
These people are insane and want to murder.
I'm going to keep it brief and 100 with you.
You're going to be hurting for a good long while, probably a lot longer than the relationship. Don't worry, that's actually quite normal for having your heart legit broken. You WILL heal with time, you're not an outlier that won't heal. Don't fight the pain or try to numb it, you can't win that fight and you'll make it worse in the long run.
As for relationships, you don't find a soul mate, you build a soul relationship. You build it by choosing each other every day, in spite of flaws or hardships. No good relationship was ever stumbled into.
If I had it just given to me all at once without it having come from working class exploitation, I'd be fine with trillions. I'd use it to make some major changes for life on earth.
But what it actually requires to accumulate that amount of money irl is extreme exploitation. And that will corrupt your mind. There isn't a single billionaire who isn't profoundly sick to a criminal degree.
If I see that irl I'm staring until they acknowledge me. At which point I say in my southern belle voice "It can't be... I watched you die... You're supposed to be dead!!!"
No, it was SCOTUS.
