  • A transition to socialism/communism. Trump is the result of capitalism gone wild. This is what it always turns into.

What we really need is a digital liquid democracy platform, and removing power from leaders. No more of unchecked corruption until we can get around to another election. In liquid democracy, people can remove their pledged vote whenever they want.

  • I didn’t invent the term. Not my fault you don’t know it.

  • There’s a big difference between actual fact-checking, and the “fact-checking” industry which is controlled by powerful interests to help sell their narrative.

  • Hell no. She was a racist, pro-corporate narcissist. She can rot in hell.

I really hate how so many people have tried to rehabilitate and protect her image. After a career spent trampling indigenous rights, I refuse to see her record whitewashed.

  • Well, the court does. This is coming from Carr, who’s been trying to make headlines for his gubernatorial run.

  • No, they only care according to their own bias. The liberal judges have also been onboard with shredding the constitution on behalf of corporations & authoritarianism. They agree more than they disagree.

  • Not at all. I’m talking about direct democracy.

I think the fastest route is to set up parallel institutions to provide services the current government cuts. As they cut services, they delegitimize their authority. As we provide what services we can, we claim that legitimacy.

  • There’s no concentration of power. The people are the enforcers.

  • LoL. Certainly possible it’s multiple people coordinating, but I think it’s the same lonely loser pretending to be a group of assholes. Same speech/text patterns, and you can see weird timing on comments that look like someone switching between accounts.

  • Which is why I said it needs to be paired with strict enforcement to prevent that. The temptation is too strong for those in power to rig elections.

  • Sure. That’s a challenge. But so is securing our current elections. I think we need government funded secure vote devices provided to every citizen, with optional voting systems set up at libraries and other government buildings. Smart phone style devices connecting to a secure government network, with no other mixed functionality and tamper resistant.

Not a popular opinion, but I think we need to consider getting rid of anonymous voting to ensure the most auditable voting. But it must be paired with strict laws further outlawing voter intimidation & retaliation.

  • The solution is to remove the power from leaders. We have the infrastructure to support digital liquid democracy systems. Give people the option of direct democracy or pledging their voting power to a leader or party, but give the people the power to remove that pledge at any time. No kore leaving corrupt leaders in power until the next election.

For a people who have mastered near instant communication, we remain too committed to representative democracy.

  • As frustrating as this escalation is, it also signals they are losing and becoming desperate.

  • Israel is collapsing, and their leaders have already vocally declared their willingness to invoke the Samson option. They will destroy the planet, if they are not allowed to complete their genocide.

  • When the ICE raids started up, a bunch of these people also signed onto a thank you letter to the agents.

What more will it take for them to prove to people who they really are? They are publicly declaring, for fuck’s sake.

  • I really feel like they used to hire a better caliber of astroturfers. You think you can pull off pretending to be anti-imperialist, while pushing imperialist narratives about China and downplaying the threat of nuclear war?

No wonder you’re banned from leftist instances.

  • Such childish naivety of the threat of nuclear annihilation is a threat to the continued existence of our species. You need to grow up.

  • No Stupid Questions @lemmy.world

How can you oppose tariffs, while supporting a hardline against China on Taiwan?
