I will only use it when the icon is an animated paperclip with eyeballs.
Just kidding, I have it so all of my shit work now so I don't have to. For example, I needed to write a compelling email celebrating international women's day for a client (a man) to send to the team. I was so angry I wasn't able to draft anything good. Copilot to the rescue! It spit something out with enough jargon to be compelling to any middle manager. The client sent it without edits.
I think not having kids requires similar efforts of planning/thinking it through - just in a different way. Here's an example that really made me thing about it: My friends neighbor are a childless elderly couple. The wife has dementia of some sort. Things have rapidly escalated - and the husband is not able to care for her or make decisions rapidly enough to keep them both cared for. My friend regularly has to intervene or help (she does not want to). She is also childless and genuinely surprised at the amount of care an elderly couple needs from outside just with day to day stuff. Having kids does not guarantee you won't fall into this situation. But I don't think people realize how much support the elderly need - and that it is most often provided by family members. I understand in an ideal world we would care for the elderly differently, but this is our reality today. So not having kids comes with a price down the road.
I also think the number of parents who actually regret having kids is smaller than you think. But to be fair, parenting is tough. My kid once pooped in an actual fan. So there are moments that even I wish didn't happen.
In all cases, neither side is right or wrong. And I think we should have more empathy for folks - even if they chose a path we would not.
Exactly my thoughts on bullet 2. Is the task force working on other high priority items? Is the city's shit so not together they cannot produce a single list of all properties they own in a week? This is the kind of thing that will fuel anti-Mamdani sentiment.
I totally agree with the no billionaire concept - but I don't even think that is the point of contention. I hate that we have been spinning on this for a decade. The real issue his HOW we do it from both a strategic and execution perspective
Do you implement changes slowly to minimize resistance? Do you do a lot at once to ensure changes don't stall? Do we have an income tax? How do we tax non-liquid assets? What if those assets are held outside the US? And so on...
Most people don't want billionaires. Let's shift the discussion so that is the assumption we are starting with - and now we just have to implement.
It's like 1 of 2 days where the whole country shuts down. Even if a person doesn't celebrate, they shouldn't have to work (actually that makes it like so much worse to make the non-celebrator work on the holiday).
I'm so sorry this is an experience you are having. I don't have much to offer - but am sending good thoughts your way.
