  • To me there is a great shift in liberal discourse. It is very acceptable to be pro Palestine. It is still not acceptable to be anti NATO. To me it is very important to deconstruct the MIC and NATO in the way that it’s been done with Israel in the past years.

  • going to remind people that Hasan repeatedly makes homophobic jokes and never challenges the narrative on Ukraine.

  • Air attacks on Kabul push Pakistan-Taliban crisis into uncharted territory

    https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2026/2/27/air-attacks-on-kabul-push-pakistan-taliban-crisis-into-uncharted-territory

Islamabad, Pakistan – Pakistan launched air strikes on Afghanistan’s capital, Kabul, as well as on Kandahar and Paktia, early on Friday. The attacks targeted Taliban military installations as Islamabad declared “open war” on the group’s government, in the most serious military confrontation between the two neighbours in years.

seems to b a major escalation. not sure if it related to US mobilisation in the region.

  • Azov’s hiring spree: Controversial Ukrainian brigade competes for recruits

    https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2026/2/27/how-ukrainian-military-units-compete-for-recruits

thought it was an interesting article about what azov was up to lately.

Most of the applications should be filled online, and only prospective candidates are invited to recruitment offices whose locations are not disclosed because Russia targets them with drones, missiles or attacks by people recruited via messaging apps or the dark web.

Some 700 of Azov fighters are still behind bars in Russia, facing torture and starvation, according to swapped servicemen and Ukrainian officials.

Azov had far-right origins, but the current leadership claims to have cleaned up the brigade, denying any links with “extremist” groups. Al Jazeera is unable to independently verify these claims.

al-jazeera is trying to pull a "neither confirm nor deny" for azov's neo-nazism. kind of silly to read

  • the show was more about exploring the tragedy than trying to push a narrative about the evils of communism.

The writer said that his goal was to show that the trump administration lies in the same way as the Soviet government did.

  • No CW

  • There could be many conclusions. I’ll just say what concerns me most. Over the past year, the reactionary US president has done what the “antiwar” left has been calling for. What has this led to? Increased aggression, more civilian casualties, and more destruction. Things have only gotten worse. In this situation, I think the “antiwar” folks should have done some rethinking. But I still don’t see them doing that.

The logic of many “antiwar” leftists seems to be, “We provoked this war, so now let’s throw the victim of aggression under the bus.” In Trump’s version, it’s “Let’s throw the victims under the bus and rob them.” Despite the humanistic rhetoric, all proposals in practice boiled down to leaving Ukraine defenseless in the face of imperialist aggression. It should be obvious by now that this is the wrong approach. In the 1990s, the US forced Ukraine to give up its nuclear weapons to Russia, making us vulnerable. The US’s responsibility now is to help Ukraine, not to reward the aggressor.

this passes for leftist analysis in the jacobin btw.

  • ridiculous to still be pro european army intervention, pro regime change in russia, pro military spending. wtf

  • the soviet union. not just russia

  • A. That does not justify war crimes

    B. I think the logic behind hitting electricity targets is that they are often outside populated areas, so it minimizes civilian casualties. I don’t really agree with this tactic either for the record

    C. I’m not sure what this has to do with the war

  • police and government buildings, why not destroy expensive targets like data centers, why not strike bridges.

these are civilian targets, it would be a warcrime

  • You are annoying, if that wasn’t obvious already

  • China has billionaires

  • what does legitimately supporting mean? giving him more money?

  • Maybe you should stop talking

  • i see. would be interesting to see what other air bases are used in europe apart from italy and germany. i am thinking about how a war with iran will be spun as "trumps war" and the eu will just pretend like nato supplies are not being used for it. showing the interconnected nature of nato would be quite useful for organising

  • no

  • do you by any chance know which NATO countries are supplying aircraft for this buildup? or is it all US aircraft?

  • i dont disagree with anything you are saying. i just feel its a little unfair to talk about the film as if its equal to other indie films. most indie filmmakers are not already established youtuber superstars. and besides its based on a popular video game.
