  • Education is not a good defense when you weren't given any different education than the rest. And it seems like an ideology that they choose even among those more educated and wealthier. This whole only poor uneducated fall for lies is misleading and passes off personal responsibility.

    They are the ones who chose despite others not doing so. And even the worst people are capable of moments of kindness, but it doesn't change who they are at their core and what they choose to believe when they don't have to selectively filter themselves.

    And feel bad for them all you want. It doesn't change that people around the world are suffering because of their decisions that empowered the people in charge, since they believed they would be the exception.

  • Got to be really deranged to vote for a candidate that ran on a platform of revenge and hate, and there's at the minimum 70 million of those types of Americans which outnumbers many individual countries. Americans suck and don't seem nice. Too many bad apples.

  • When I think of the tesla brand I think nazi, racism, facism, bigotry, etc. So yeah I wouldn't want to drive one even if it was given to me for free because of the problematic association.     So yeah, proton founder cherry picked information that tried to make it seem like it was acceptable to praise the pick when reality is the past is too murky to endorse in any manner. And that medium article that gets floated around ignores Internet Association too, so wouldn't be shocking if it was from proton attempting to do PR damage fixating on identity politics with intentional omission of Internet Association involvement.

  • I use the old.reddit.com/r/subreddit+subreddit1 bookmark approach to get a reddit feed without relying on reddit account for a subscription on desktop browser.

    And on Android I use Stealth from F-Droid which is an app that lets you subscribe locally, save locally, and lets you have different profiles with different subscriptions. And it is account free with no way to log in.

    Moving to primarily lurking is the route I've taken.

  • Another thing is virustotal is a good site for scanning programs before running it, since it'll scan it with every possible virus scanner available.

    Windows defender and browsing the web with something ublock origin to block ads is sufficient. And just having virustotal scan a program before running it will protect you from most stuff.

    If you do insist on a third party virus scanner then eset is one I used to use for years before sticking with defender. It is from Slovakia.
