I watched some gameplay. I know the mechanics are designed to make the players take risks and have fun, but the way "command" just gives you seemingly random and dangerous tasks of securing plots of land instead of just landing all of your reinforcements and equipment inside the defensive perimeter is very fitting for the universe. The people in charge are incompetent fools - and the mobile infantry are the ones who got tricked by them!
Square Enix keeps doing this thing where they make killer mobile games but refuse to market them outside of Japan. The most recent is:
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles. This is a remake of a GameCube game that was also released on console, with all four versions of the game able to play with each other online. There's even a Lite version, which is both a demo and a way to play with a friend who owns the game without having to buy it yourself. It's a simple action RPG where players explore dungeons, level up, fight bosses etc, the real fun is doing these things with friends if you got 'em. The game is a bop.
People have review bombed it on the Play Store for being $30, but the thing is it's a real fucking video game and not a "free" MTX hellscape. Squeenix seems to keep running into this problem with all of their games that don't have MTX, meanwhile their gacha bullshit games crush it because they're more in line with player expectations.
The left is already targeted, if not we would still be on Reddit. Celebrating when chuds get targeted too isn't inviting an ironic punishment it's schadenfreude.
Not a fan of when there's one magic system and seemingly everyone in the world is on the same page about it. Even in science you have conflicting theories to explain certain things - with magic, where half the shit you do is seemingly random and the results you see are based on vibes, practically every person wielding it should have a completely different understanding of what they're doing and why it works. That should be the reason why it's so hard to pass from teacher to student - I could teach you to do the same things I do, and speak the same incantations, but that doesn't mean it will work for you the way it does for me, because it's magic and it's inherently illogical.
I don't think just a picture is illegal, but painting any kind of positive portrait of the North Korean government is, which includes any advocacy for communism or explicit anticapitalism. These guys were walking on eggshells with the South Korean security law when they put this together.
Worth remembering that while Sarkeesian was one of the principal targets of Gamer Gate, it initially got started when an woman NB made a text adventure that got good reviews and people freaked and assumed she slept with a reviewer for them.
IDK the numbers for East Germany, bu I do know that the richest Soviets were only something like six times wealthier than the average citizen. The perks for high level officials of having a nice housing bloc and a private store are so minor compared to what the rich in America can expect - nevermind the fact that nobody in that system was born into a high level Party position. Though some western propagandists will argue that Stalin "owned" the entire Soviet state when he was in charge of it, and therefore calculate that he was the richest man in history.
I appreciate MGS2's story, but every time I've tried to play either it or MGS1 I've gotten pissed off and quit because of how much I hate the controls.
I wouldn't even disagree that there's messy aspects to it, it's just that as a whole package I think MGSV is one of a very small number of AAA games that actually delivers on its size and budget. Top tier gameplay, story, characters, graphics, sounds - there are games that are better in one or two of those aspects than MGSV, but none that deliver so highly across the entire spectrum of what a video game is, which is why it's my GOAT.
