  • It could be a Facebook profile entry!

  • That's a strange logical fallacy but you do you.

  • Indeed, I just don't bother. That energy can and should be used in more meaningful, impactful ways like protests and policy changes. Which isn't much but it's the best we got.

  • Yeah, I don't fault them for sticking to their original layouts. Maybe Xbox et all should have used numbers instead of letters. Or symbols, I really like the PlayStation's symbols.

  • It's also a laundering scheme to make free software proprietary.

  • Ah. I usually conflate the two under "internet archive".

  • What's the second?

  • Every now and then I see a parent having a tender moment with their child and I smile. I then reflect on whether my vasectomy/shirk of parenthood was the right choice.

I always come to the conclusion that it was. Perhaps when I'm older I will feel differently but I just can't imagine that in my life for a long time.

  • TIL about the Great Filter. Thanks for the rabbit hole!

  • Oh yay! Happy times. The fdroid version doesn't have that yet but I look forward to the update.

  • It is way way lighter weight and is overall a better experience. I use osmand for routing because the voice is much better tuned (OM just says barely-useful things like "turn left" instead of "turn left at Broadway". I think both have their uses. If the voice was better I would use OM exclusively.

  • "Less traumatic than violent, ad-hoc suicide" perhaps?

  • Oof, and the others are barely motivational at best.

  • I've been slowly trying thumbkey but seem to be struggling to get to the point where I feel comfortable using it over qwerty. I love the concept as I also hate using qwerty.... Yet I still seem more accurate using the crutch of autocorrect. With thumbkey I have to go back and correct more than I thought I would. I can kinda touch-type at a decent rate now but I definitely need more practice.

All of this is to ask: is there a point where I will be so comfortable as to not need to fear misspelling something without this crutch of autocorrect?

  • Recently cut, myself! Happy to have done so.

  • I don't know but it still hasn't been cracked... I imagine things would be very bad if they decide to pull it for some reason...

  • Yeah, normalize either being okay. Just like long or short hair. Diversity is the spice of life.

  • Gruvbox is the color scheme I call home. I always come back to it.

  • Considering the absolutely devastating performance hits 3.x brings (and the apparent design failures that make it extremely difficult if not impossible to reclaim it) I wonder if openssl's days are numbered. WolfSSL seems to be favorable to the HAProxy team. Hopefully that can get some traction.
