  • Fair enough. I’ve read their articles over the years here and there whenever I happen to come across them, though I don’t recall ever looking at their opinion pieces. Great tip about the RSS backdoor!

  • I’d be curious to know why, since “sucks” didn’t give me quite enough context, oddly enough.

  • I’d love to know why anyone is downvoting this. Truly curious what’s to dislike here.

  • This is an outstanding list of resources. Thanks so much for posting. I wish more people would engage with stuff like this instead of clutching their liberal pearls. The Nepalese showed how to actually protest a corrupt government. All power to the people.

Riot Medicine is an incredible resource and even I could make sense of it as a full-time idiot. Crimethinc are the poets of a generation who few people seem to know about despite being around for many years, and of course the Anarchist Library is one of the great online resources. Shout out to Serafinski.

  • Because as everyone online knows, all discussions on the internet do and must relate to the US. Even if they briefly appear not to relate to the US and its shit govt, don’t worry, some insular American will pull the discussion right back where it belongs.

I swear to fucking hell, someone could post about oatmeal and within a dozen comments someone else would link it to Trump.

  • Great info. Thanks so much! I’m no defender of Word or of Microsoft, so I’m always on the lookout for alternatives, though Libre Office most often suits my rather simple needs.

  • A system of measurement in which something like 15/16 of an inch is seen as a sensible way to measure a small distance. Not much else to say.

  • Impressive to feel you understand a country of 1.4 billion people from a single picture, let alone call them “pathetic” and “amoral.” The world’s most populous country with dozens of languages and cultures. One single picture. Like I said, impressive…ignorance.

I lived in India for years, in multiple cities north and south, and I’ve traveled all over the country by train on my own as a foreigner. Easily some of the best experiences of my life.

India is dozens of nations posing as one single nation state. To generalize it is impossible. To generalize it from a single picture is a degree of simplistic thinking I’m not sure I’ve ever encountered from an adult.

  • A glance at their website says that the data is only stored in Europe, though on Azure servers encrypted at rest to which Microsoft holds the encryption keys. That last bit is an absolute deal-breaker for me.

Zero- knowledge encryption or don’t waste my time. I’m not putting legal/medical/etc docs into the cloud with only a “trust me bro” from the creators of Co-Pilot.

  • The world seems full of people who work as unpaid corporate lawyers. I’ve run into several of these types in person. I imagine that the Venn Diagram of these people and those who snitch on their colleagues is a circle.

  • Goddamn you’re making an excellent point here. Then I saw your username and it all made sense. Clearly you appreciate actions more than mere words. Good stuff.

  • Few governments leave peacefully. Ask Iranians. Still, something needs to be done, and I think a general strike is the best tool at the moment. Witty signs and walking through the streets will not get it done with this White House, unfortunately.

I’d hope that at least 10% of your population must be furious enough at that shitty regime to inconvenience themselves, though at this point I’d even take 3.5%.

US twentieth century history teaches us that in whatever the US does, its citizens will suffer much less for it than the citizens of the victim nations, so as annoying as it may be, the shoe is finally on the other foot. Ask Latinos or Arabs how it felt to wear that shoe for generations.

Let’s see if an actual general strike can come to fruition. If so, I’ll be hoping for its success from afar.

I got off in a tangent there, apologies, since I’m not at all intending to argue against anything you said in your comment….

  • Fucking FINALLY. How this took an entire year is beyond me. People getting snatched off the street, beaten, and even killed. A general strike is what is needed and what has been needed. I’m happy the time has finally arrived.

  • “oligarchy of former terrorists”

    Perfectly stated.

  • This is the dream. They’ve shit all over Latin America for almost a century. Enough already.

Again I’ll say it….Trump is a symptom, not the disease.

  • I wish it weren’t so, but you’re hitting all sorts of nails on the heads. Long live Rojava. Down with jihadis, and so long as the so-called Syrian army is headed by a jihadist, down with them.

  • Might sound crazy, I know, but I’m having trouble trusting a jihadist after what’s happened to Kurds at their hands in the last decade.

I may come to trust him slightly if he allows free and fair presidential elections, which I strongly doubt he ever will.
