  • At the risk of being downvoted, I think the beer quality is pretty similar on both sides of the border, except in what we call the Pacific Northwest, in a greater sense - Cascadia, if you will.

I’m not saying good beer doesn’t exist other places, but in my book, British Columbia, Washington and Oregon form a sort of fantastic microbrew continuum, an example where regional culture transcends the national borders.

A beer from Vancouver or Victoria is comparable in quality to Seattle or Portland, but they collectively wallop most breweries in the other parts of both our countries. These places have a much more developed beer culture, too. Hanging out at microbreweries is so much more of a thing in that region.

  • Friendly reminder that your “legally acquired” library of FLAC files never raises its subscription prices!

  • Understanding this joke makes me feel old.

  • Silicon Valley person here. There is a relatively developed tech sector there, with a growing startup scene in Tel-Aviv. So not a horrible place to have an office (from purely talent reasons, setting ethics aside). But not necessarily fantastic either. There are bigger and more developed tech scenes in other countries. The Netherlands, Germany and Austria in particular have a lot of high tech semiconductor manufacturing companies which would be logical for a company like NVIDIA. As well as the added benefit of not currently waging a war against civilians.

  • The phrase “IRQ in use” is still enough to give me nightmares.

  • Israel never wanted a negotiated ceasefire because they’re the ones doing all the firing. Has Gaza shot back in the last 18 months?

  • It’s just not the same if a child slave didn’t suffer for it. Or something.

Given all the horrific history of conflict diamonds, etc, why would anyone not want a lab made stone at this point?

  • Driving them out of life and into death, as seems to be the stated policy goal of the Netanyahtzees.

  • So if you Google for “democracy” you go to jail?

  • That’s actually an interesting point. And you’re right, the effects of their HK policy will surely be to remove any doubt in Taiwanese minds that they need to defend their island with force.

  • I mean.. I disagree? I think it looks like a retro-futuristic Mini Cooper or something. To each their own.

  • Any Britons care to opine as to whether this is an important enough issue to UK voters as to be able election winning message? I don’t necessarily just mean general opinion as I expect many people are increasingly critical of Israel, but rather, is the ongoing war top of mind enough to win votes over inward-facing issues/campaigns? What is public sentiment like and how passionate is it?

  • I have a Renault 5, was one of the first owners of the new EV model! It’s a fantastic car, but interestingly, the whole interior material is.. denim! Seats, trim, everything. Even the inside of the roof! And it’s made out of recycled blue jeans. How cool is that?

  • Sounds like the Netanyahtzees are already drooling over the prospect of more lebensraum.

  • Looks very cozy.

  • Former Apple employee here, hardware is almost never let off campus but software alone can be. For example software engineers working on iOS, like this guy, would probably have development builds installed on their personal devices. It's allowed but you're obviously not supposed to let anyone else see or use the new features.
