  • Unfortunately video platforms are also much harder on small hosts. More storage, more bandwidth, harder to moderate.

I feel like the solution might be a media management company, like buffer, offering to host videos directly and over a open protocols for a small upgrade in addition to posting to YT et all.

  • It's a pretense to shake down nonprofits with any connection to defending our rights. Open their books and make a mountain out even the slightest mistakes. Scare opponents into inaction.

  • However bluesky is not decentralized. This is handled by their appview, which other bluesky clients might change

  • I think communicating that someone is blocked is a useful part of blocking. Even if it's just a notification after comment "you have a blocked reply, it will not be visible to the poster".

  • Metric will never recover from not being base-12. Ease of use and intuitiveness suddenly trumps "objective" design. We'd have metric time right now, smh.

  • It is, the goal is to checkmate black by sliding tiles.

  • AI satanic panic continues.

  • This does come with a (maybe trivial) cost for those hosts of not being able to enter the UK.

  • Iceberg

    Jump
  • mullvad as outcast tier while...it's advertised on public transit and highway billboards

  • bullshit framing. this isnt reddit defending privacy. it's protecting the user data they want to sell to AI trainers. while killing the archival record.

  • The value of holding av real primary. Sadly that boat sailed. Having delegates hand pick a candidate without any voter input opens the process to undue influence from party politics.

Kamala was at least chosen by the people as a VP. Can't say the same for most of the randos throwing their hat in

  • Ages ago someone wrote a bash script that would calculate your "stallman score", essentially checking the license of every package in your system.

  • To nitpick, Win10 looks like KDE :). Kde has been pretty consistent for a while

  • He knows Trump will win, it's a safe bet to win some favor.

  • Unfortunately this financing requires a populace widely adopting cryptocurrency...making it a pipe dream for mainstream use.

Tips are generally a bad model as well, which creates an incentive for rapid and pandering work (like ad supported content).

Patreon had frankly built all of YouTube that is worth watching. I think a simple payment system using real banks can be integrated into smaller hosting services.

It's all academic though, YouTube is unrivaled in ad revenue and helping you expand an audience.

  • It's concerning how this pseudoscience is getting so much traction, and we'll be left with a bunch of nonsensical privacy regulation. Granted I'm happy to err towards too much privacy regulation, but can imagine other privacy issues getting less traction.

  • It probably wont happen in the US, but i really hope enough countries crack down on PFAs to have some reliable sources of safe everyday products

  • I don't disagree with any of this, but in this particular instance i do think it's simply a reflection of reality. Biden's whole strategy is win over dummy undecideds who can't tell him and Trump apart, rather than excite his base for a good turnout.

Fact is that strategy requires charisma, not brains. Biden's running a strategy on his weakness. It's doomed, which is impressive since Trump is so widely hated. Literally any other dem in there party is a better choice, save Jimmy Carter...
