He is a much needed voice of dissent that proves that someone, anyone, cares about what is going on. Anyone who does not speak out or act out against this is complicit, or else terrified into complacency and therefore still complicit.
Bernie can't oust RFK on his own but he can raise a banner for others to rally around and perhaps force legislative action about this. It might happen. If he stayed silent then it is guaranteed not to happen.
It feels morally wrong to say I would have liked to have kicked that can another few decades down the road, but I would really have liked that as opposed to personally watching the downfall of my nation live and in color.
But I suppose so would any who live to see such times.
I'm not buying it strictly because I can't support Konami firing Kojima from their team and then trying to parade the corpse of his projects around to get more free money. It stinks of the same bullshit that Disco Elysium does where no matter how good the game is, it is an objectively moral choice to pirate it instead of paying the publishers for it.
A thing we see over here in America sometimes is the same group, or even the same man, having control over both public and private options of a given service. The public option is stripped of funding and only operates at minimum wage, while the private option has 5x the funding and hires industry experts. This then easily paves the way for "the public option is trash and doesn't work, we need to privatize this entire industry". Suddenly your post office is owned by an individual and you're paying a weekly post subscription.
Be very, very cautious and suspicious of private options attempting to supplant public ones. It's a key tactic that our homegrown American fascists like to use and it's upsettingly effective on the general public.
In my left hand, I have a manfile, written by the very same people who wrote the tool or language that I'm trying to use. It is concise, contains true information, and won't change if I look up the same thing again later.
In my right hand, I have a pathological liar, who also kinda sorta read the manfile and then smooshed it together with 20 other manuals.
I wonder which of these options is a more reliable reference tool for me? Hmm. It's difficult to tell.
Yep. I didn't have a huge issue with them charging for new DLC. If the DLC is good then fine, devs gotta eat.
When they sunset content that I paid for and tell me it's no longer accessible, that's when I dropped the game like a hot potato. Should have requested a refund, actually.
You know nothing about my life. Nor, apparently, the lives of your neighbors who suffer beside you. To be this ignorant is a great privelege. I hope for your sake you never need to learn about the reality of the world around you, because when it comes knocking, it will not come quietly.
I am quite certain they would be happy to hear that their friends and family back home continued to live on past them.
Climate change is the sort of existential threat that will literally kill every single person you've ever met. It is not the same. If I could volunteer to give my own life to reverse catastrophic climate change it wouldn't even be a question. But no matter how many of us go and die about it we are now past the point where we can make a difference. The ice caps are in runaway melt loops. This is now a self perpetuating problem that cannot be solved without some new major scientific breakthrough. Habitable portions of the earth are going to shrink to single digit percentages of what we have right now, over the next couple hundred years. We can no longer stop this from happening, and it all happened because some of the very worst parts of humanity decided they needed a few extra thousand dollars every year.
Housing prices? That's your argument? That's your bleak outlook?
Can't afford a home? That means you're homeless. That's a crime now. To the prison work camp you go, chop chop.
Dude, up until relatively recently you couldn't have a baby without it dying or dying yourself.
Still can't in a lot of places. Not to mention, in America, assuming you both survive you're now $50k in medical debt for the privelege of reproducing.
Common cold? Deceased.
People still die from pneumonia daily.
There are people alive today who are being murdered because their existence maddens someone and your argument is that your housing costs have gone up.
Two problems can exist at once.
Get some perspective. Your life isn't that bad.
My friends and family and coworkers are the ones being threatened with murder because their existence maddens someone. Get some perspective.
monochromatic flag referred to as a "no quarter" flag
Intent or not, that's what it is, the black flag or no quarter flag is one that states I will kill you dead even if you surrender.
Chuds think this means they're tough manly men, what it really means is a declaration that they cannot be trusted with anything for any reason. It's broadcasting to the world that you don't intend to abide by any rules of engagement so it's best to just blow you off the map pre-emptively. Flying this flag, even if you don't even engage with an enemy, is itself a war crime according to the Hague conventions.
Paradox DLCs also classically add a ton of content every single time. Sure Stellaris kind of sucks as a new player because there's $260 of content, but it's perfectly playable and even good with only the base version and then you pick whatever new content you like as you want more of it. Rimworld has the exact same strategy and I don't see people complain about that. They release a complete game without any obviously missing parts and then keep bolting on cool new extra parts for the next 10 years.
All that to say, yeah this is kind of out of character for Paradox. Which does have me concerned about this.
