I felt the same about lemmygrad. I'd rather have a little bit more popular instance than finding one that specifically caters to my tendency. Overall the fediverse is still lefty af.
Within the context of this image/historically, I agree. I don't believe I've ever seen/discussed the three arrows as an anti-communist symbol today though. In the contexts that it's used today, I certainly wouldn't consider it a hate symbol.
It was one of the first to make voice chat really really easy for gamers. Yes vent and ts existed before, but discord made it soooo easy and had integrated irc-style chat

This is the issue with fediverse in general: lack of content. I'm sure people can figure out how to join ... it's not any more complicated than joining Bluesky, and that has exploded in growth. Why? Because everybody is on there.
