That’s the one, and the humans making plans were called wallfacers.
Sorry I wasn’t sober when writing that comment last night.

This is a topic in the 3 body problem series of books. The aliens have photons (?) that spy on everything the humans do so the humans have no way of planning against their attack without them knowing. The humans assign a few people to make plans with no oversight and without telling anyone else their plan.
Highly recommend the books.
UK keyboards have the " and the @ symbols reversed from the US layout.
And we mix and match our units of measurement. So
milk = liters.
Beer = pints.
Distance = miles (if driving).
Distance = km if running or cycling.
Distance = inches if penis

Sadly I’ve just come 3rd in the parents race at my kids sports day at the cost of pulling my calf muscle so it look like I’ll not be getting many steps in over the next few days.
Keep up the great work, I’m looking forward to see how it progresses.

But I wouldn’t call it a soft drink.

sicarius@lemmy.worldto RetroGaming@lemmy.world•What peripheral do you think should make a comeback?English19·4 months agoThere’s a gun available called The sinden lightgun it doesn’t use infra red, it had a high speed camera in the barrel and monitors it’s position relative to the border of the TV. Works brilliantly on modern tvs and even projectors.
Yes slice and dice! I would hate to know how many hours I’ve played on that game over three different phones.
If you haven’t tried them yet, slay the spire and balatro are also brilliant.
sicarius@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•if you work night shifts, do you have a life? Are you healthy?7·6 months agoI’ve always been a night person. Absolutly useless first thing in the morning. Then I got a job working nights and it just seemed so natural.
Then as I got older I got a job working offshore, working nights. So I get to wake up at 1400, have a cup of tea, go to the gym, do some other stuff before starting shift at 1830 - 0630. Then go straight to bed, and not have any disturbances until I wake up.
Yeah, the first night it a bit tough having traveled to work through the day then staying up all night and when I get home turning around to regular life can take a couple days but melatonin helps a lot with that.
I have a friend who works as a night porter in a hotel and has to sleep at home with his family doing stuff during the day, he always looks tired and I don’t think it’s healthy for him to continue that long term. I think some people are wired for days and some for nights but they still need to get proper rest whenever it is that suits them.
I read a book by the author of fight club called “Rant” where society was split into dayshift and nightshift due to overpopulation, doesn’t seem like such a bad idea to me.
Also, if you work nights make sure to take vitamin d supplements.

I’d be Jimbo Bomber.
A lot cooler sounding than my real name.
I’m an industrial radiographer and usually called bombers.
Ha I thought for a second your age was in the 90’s, but then I considered it more likely that you were born in the 1990’s, right?
You’ve missed out the Scottish snow badger. Like the regular European badger but about a third larger and completely white to blend into their (now disappearing) snowy highland habitats.
They are the sole reason hard plastic shell ski boots were invented after it was found that snow badgers have no problem biting through the old leather ski boots we used to use.
They hibernate through the summer months and only come out to hunt during the winter so it’s very hard to get a photo of them.
Everyone is focusing on the radiation. But if you used depleted uranium is wat denser than iron so horse shoes made or uranium would last a lot longer but also be way heavier.
