  • Plasma is getting lots of improvements lately, love it

  • pv (Pipe Viewer) is a command line tool to view verbose information about data streamed/piped through it. The data can be of any source like files, block devices, network streams etc. It shows the amount of data passed through, time running, progress bar, percentage and the estimated completion time.

  • that is what the /srv mount point is for. I mount all my external HDDs from there.

  • try: hostnamectl --help

  • I use both myself, Fedora for desktop work and Debian for server

  • My T430 has outlasted my X1 extreme. It was built differently

  • Im my distro the all the plugins are included in the repo package. But you just need to Configure Kate and there is a plugins section.

  • The support for NVIDIA hardware on Linux is not ideal at best. When I switched to all AMD I have since had a very smooth experience, especially with distro hopping.

  • I have found Kate to be very capable with python and rust. With Sessions I can also have my own set of notes in markdown. The plugins are plentiful and git integration is built in.

  • Got my T430 used, its a great laptop and runs any modern linux distro just fine.

  • This is a bit alarming. I would think the flatpak versions would be quick to get these security updates.
