  • I don't understand academia (and I kind of hate it)... Why would you minimize your knowledge to this, and at the same time being super rigid about methodology?

  • Highest I've seeded before stopping was 2000x, on about 30 or so titles. And everything from my home connection lol

  • Thank you for sharing your blog post and the link to the article on Medium. I 100% agree with you when you say that "the mission of taking away power from Big Tech is more important than purity testing on social media, so any person who drops Google in favor of Proton (or Tuta, etc.) is a political win".

  • Hey thanks for the comment. Might you explain a little bit more? I'm just curious to learn more

  • What about the fact that basically ALL entire planet goes through either Cloudflare or Akamai's infrastructure? I wonder if it is even possible to not use those, even unwillingly

  • That's bad news. Can you share the original tweet? Thanks

  • Like which providers?

  • Yep! Thank you for sharing, I'll look further into it!

  • I believe the Fediverse needs an automated way for the sign up process, something users don't have to think excessively about. I don't believe that just recommending the flagship instance is enough to foster adoption. The same behavior Nextcloud proposes could be useful: https://nextcloud.com/sign-up/

It means to have list of trusted instances, and therefore defining the collective criteria for deciding when an instance can be classified as trusted. I guess the Fediverse community can find a common understanding, as was done for the Fedipact

  • RSS feeds are the way to go to keep in touch with events, but only when you want to and in a not addictive manner. Also, my philosophy is that some news is really really important only if somebody from my inner circle personally tells me something about it. Otherwise is just noise from media

  • And how does it help new users choose a server to sign up to?

  • Sorry, but I still don't understand how exactly PieFed supposedly has a better onboarding and helping new users choose a server. Am I missing something?

  • We have been using the audio/video calls feature for no the now. We are currently on version 9.11.7

  • How would a federated internet look like?

  • Are there any bulk suppliers or retail owners in this community? In particular fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) are a major element in almost everybody's life and can be used to send a very strong signal. Imagine if all rural stores in a particular area started only selling European stuff. We need those providers here and have a solid business plan for them to adopt such goods, it needs to be economically feasible

  • Probably your instance is not federated yet with makertube. Try after a few days, as your search might have triggered a discovery
