seathru@lemmy.sdf.orgto Ask Science@lemmy.world•Can I remove a scar by cutting it open and then healing it?English19·18 days agoI would place a bet on “makes it worse” right now.
Dermatologists have some kind of magic shot that makes them go away. The top of my shoulder was covered in a nasty, lumpy scar from a childhood injury. After 2 rounds of shots and a few years time, you can only tell it was there because it tans different than the surrounding skin.

seathru@lemmy.sdf.orgto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Sometimes there is a sign saying "front in parking only" and I get it for angled parking spots but why would a sign like this ever exist for normal spots?English2·25 days agoOh I’m sure there was. Unlike my neighbor who put up an official looking “No street parking” sign in an attempt to keep people from parking in front of their house. It lasted maybe 2 weeks.
Always question authority.

It seems to be mostly a euro thing. BMW stopped using oil dipsticks nearly 2 decades ago. Land Rover also somewhere in the late 00’s.
But I agree it’s a moronic idea. Not only does it prevent you from checking oil condition like you said; if it’s after an oil change, it takes about 15min just to check the level (and another 15 if you messed it up). At $150+/hr shop rates, that adds up.

Edit: it didn’t. :( They managed to make them worse.
The point is that even though the global economic system has abuses everywhere, you chose to use an example that is both racially and politically charged.
It was one example, pulled out of my ass, out of a myriad. And it wasn’t even the point of the post. I’m not going to be assed to edit it.
When called out about it, specifically that there are numerous examples that both hit closer to home and lack the baggage of your chosen example, how did you react? You immediately dismissed the criticism as coming from a group who you view as holding a number of untenable positions, thus allowing you to dismiss the criticism without engaging with it.
.ml users commenting on china are more often than not, arguing in bad faith, so I’m not wasting any energy there. And I’m guessing this is your non ml alt.
No, not really. But I’m sure we can find some “got-ya” if we keep going. Carry on.
Edit: you got anything else? Or was that it?
I mean I don’t like tankies either but is this user wrong?
Yes. Do you have reputable sources that show no chinese goods are made using Uyghur forced labor?
Kind of I guess. Didn’t have home internet so I would park my car in a home depot parking lot with a laptop torrenting off the public wifi and then walk the rest of the way to work.
