Little bit of everything!

Gaming (Mass Effect, Witcher, and too much Satisfactory)

Sci-fi

I live for 90s TV sitcoms

  • Testing is a 1-way communication style. The most important foundation to a relationship is communication. "Testing" undermines that and is a red flag on date 1. Now, having a conversation and talking about things is something else.

  • I'm not sure either of those are first date material. 3rd or 4th sure, but 1st is just like "Are you a complete asshole or not, do we share any interests"

  • The monotony. Life has wonderful moments, and there is joy and love. There is also the constant grind. Buying groceries, cooking meals, doing laundry, cleaning. Things that we never thought of as children, but it takes so much time just to continue living and filling basic needs. That's when you start to really appreciate the replicators in Star Trek. Sure at first it's like "I could have takeout anytime", but then you realize oh my god if I didn't have to shop, get groceries, cook, put them away, move them home, the whole thing, we'd have so much more time.

  • Coal. Coal should be over as a fuel, no ifs ands or buts. Arguing for coal right now is like arguing that whale oil is still a viable fuel.

The US has been completely eclipsed by other countries who are now making more or less free electricity from wind and solar. All arguments against them have been debunked to hell, if they were at all true we wouldn't see China now mostly running of of renewables. While we listened to fossil fuel lobbyists push propaganda they were getting ahead.

  • Nothing at all, I've used it frequently, but it never hurts to see what else is out there.

  • Pixel is doing the same later this year. We have to leave big tech devices altogether. I got the fairphone and its fun again, lineage tying a new phone in 2007.

  • Android @lemdro.id

Recommended ROM for Samsung Tab S9?

  • Unpopular opinion only because none of us know what the hell you're talking about. So... Congrats? Meet other people sounds like.

  • K, fairphone 6 has been pretty legit?

  • Fairphone has been pretty legit tbh

  • I'm personally in the states, if that helps, but I agree it needs to take off in more places

  • Fairphone has been great so far, spreading the word that there are alternatives and when it's time for an upgrade, vote with your wallet

  • Its so obvious top which is the most annoying thing. Cars are freedom. Well, no, they're actually a huge liability that cost a small fortune and lose that value, and then you're tethered to a gas pump forever.

Or I could, I don't know, take public transit anywhere I wanted to go. You know, freedom to choose other things

  • You're looking for tokens. Prompts are broken down into tokens, which then are used to generate tokens in response. All are represented by large integers. The common metric is tokens/second, and if utilized correctly the GPU should pin at 100% usage while generating tokens. Calculate how many tokens per second it's generating and how many tokens you're using, times the wattage per second and you're good.

  • absolutely just another lame-ass troll attempt trying to bait people. Proud here on Lemmy we're (mostly) just like "gtfo bro"

  • Turns out when people have money to spend they spend across the board, both places like walmart/amazon and also the local stores

  • In a city where the vast majority either walk to work, or walk to the subway to get to work, I can't imagine. We clear roadways in the midwest and no one bats an eye, but clearing sidewalks in a walkable city is crazy to them.

  • Games @lemmy.world

Laura Fryer talks about Phil Spencer, and tells her story of why she left Xbox

  • Nd let's not forget that there was an economic benefit too that conservatives will ignore. People were able to get out of their house and go spend money thanks to the people who shoveled. People went to work and kept things going.

Conservatives frequently think these things bring no value, and will absolutely mock it on fox news saying "so people can wALk". But yes, the benefit is they can go keep the economy going.

Its why I don't understand why they are against things like high speed rail. Its an investment. Every time we connect people together trade happens, and economies grow. Its kind of how that works.

  • and it's going to continue! It's not even about being green, financially you can't ignore it.

    Do you:

    • Put a solar panel up once and plug it in

    or

    • Pay people to mine old rocks, pull them out of the ground, and then ship it across the country at a regular cadence

It doesn't take an MBA to see the financials here.

  • They always claim it's AI. In my experience they want to sell, and their operations budget just got halved so they look extremely profitable.

Because fuck those people's livelihood, there's money to be made!

Also why you should never trust private equity. Because they'll buy this company, come in, realize what just happened, and their solution will be to...... cut more people and pawn the company off on yet another firm.
