  • What gets me is that no one seems to be mentioning exactly what it means that US is entering their 'Papers please' phase, and that supporting a fascist state isn't a very Canadian thing to do.

Not wanting to be hassled at the border, or having our sovereignty threatened is an understandable reason for avoiding the US, but it's also pretty selfish.

I wish I see more people, and Canadian news media talking about the bigger side of it as in 'We don't support fascism'

That should be an integral part of our identity, especially if we want to ensure the Conservatives stop trying to normalise maple maga ideals.

  • Feels like it was trained with a prompt to speak in the tone of Elon, and trained on historical tweets, treating all of Elon's tweets as gospel.

  • Yeah, we won’t really be prosperous until we’re losing multiple cities a year to wild fires.

  • I don't think that defeats it at all, it just changes the direction of the conversation and is as deeply philosophical as the first. Some might say life goes on with or without free will so it doesn't matter, other say that the a societal acceptance of the absence of free will removes the burden of guilt, and could reshape society in very profound ways, so of course it matters.

  • I think the whole 'Barbie' thing is a reference to how the women in Trump's orbit all have the same over-manufactured aesthetic.

  • It'll create a new bottleneck for sure, but I expect there to be a few communities built up by the richest of the rich to survive with as much comfortable as possible. A large number of the survivors will be their serfs, essential staff to maintain their comfort in exchange for a chance to survive.

  • I'm not speaking from experience with the firefighters side here, but I do think it come's down to the ick factor of smell is so much stronger than the yum factor.Smell is how we know if something is safe to eat, so if its off even a bit, that jumps to the peak of our attention.

Usually if you burn something a little bit, that's the only smell you notice.

  • Yeah, just leave the country. We’ll totally let you come back. Promise.

  • There’s less posts sure, but when I left last year so much of Reddits front page content was just badly reposted bot garbage anyway.

There were some specific communities where there we enough active real people posted to keep it interesting, but I could tell then where it was going, and as far as I can tell I wasn’t wrong.

Artificially created content to force or fake engagement to drive ad sales isn’t any less dead than here.

Also the fact that you’re giving your content up for free so spez can lock it behind paywalls is just insane.

  • Also, while using the app, there is zero accountability for who told who to do what within the government. FOIA is useless for any conversation happening within that app, self hosted or not.

  • Yeah, people keep making this mistake, but if you’re considering the dates of when they agreed to bring fifa to the US, trump figured his second term was going to be over. But then the 2020 ‘rigged’ election happened, giving him a shot for a second term in 2024.

Wonder how the turn out is going to be when his allies are all too scared or too pissed off to enter us territories.

  • Exactly.

    According to NPR :

    https://www.npr.org/2025/02/06/nx-s1-5289337/elon-musk-doge-treasury

"You could not pay me to marry outside of my ethnicity," the account wrote in September. "Normalize Indian hate," a separate post from that month read.

In July of last year, the account posted: "Just for the record, I was racist before it was cool."

In other posts, from December, the account pushed for repealing the Civil Rights Act and shared: "I just want a eugenic immigration policy, is that too much to ask."
