341·23 days agoHowever, the study stops short of proving cause and effect. The participants were only asked about their coffee drinking habits once, at the start of the study period, and this wasn’t monitored over time.
And they were followed for a median of 13 years.
This is a terrible fucking study. 13 years is a huge amount of time and people’s habits change constantly.
Someone could have easily started out drinking 5 cups a day and in 13 years be drinking no coffee at all.
Makes all their data invalid as far as I’m concerned. They could have at least made 1 single follow-up survey at the end to check if their drinking habits had changed. Jeez…
14·1 month agoYou mean suffer horribly in tiny cages and forced to pump out eggs at an unnatural rate and then slaughtered when they are deemed “spent”.
And cage-free is a minority of the world egg production. And even cage-free has issues with quality of life.
Not to mention the billions of male chicks that are ground alive the day they hatch because they are useless.

Cowen described Sinn Féin’s neutrality argument as “flawed and cynical”, saying: “Supporting Ukraine is about upholding the right of a sovereign country to protect its civilians … while drawing a clear moral line between defence and aggression. Neutrality was never meant to mean moral indifference.”
Doherty hit back, saying: “Ireland’s neutrality is not about moral indifference, nor does it prevent us from standing firmly against aggression or supporting victims of war. What it does mean is that Ireland does not participate in military alliances or in the financing of war.”
Yeah, Sinn Féin is totally wrong here. How are you “standing firmly” against aggression by standing by and doing nothing?
It’s like seeing a bully beating on a weak victim and instead of handing the victim a bat to defend themselves you just wait until the victim is beaten then treat their wounds.

Better to kill more chickens that don’t suffer while they’re alive.
And better yet to eliminate factory farming altogether. But one step at a time.

866·2 months agoNah, I would love if the US was actually a thriving, just, compassionate, and educated nation that used their power for good in the world. That would be much better than a US collapse.
And how are they going to implement that? Everyone will need to show their papers when using any social media sites?
It’s just another way for the rich and the powerful to control the masses.

It’s crazy how quickly this Trump administration has completely destroyed all trust in respected and established American institutions.
No one is looking up scientific information on American government sites anymore, when before it used to be one of the best places.

Yeah, kind of disappointed. Thought there’d be a rule against it.
There seems to be a rule against AI “content” in the English wikipedia. And the taco article in English does not contain the image.
They should make this rule universal.
And I’m not sure I agree with the exception about translations unless it’s reviewed by a human.
