  • This will be an unpopular suggestion here but why not just go all in on iCloud? It's reasonably inexpensive for not data-hoarding amounts of data, reasonably secure and E2E encrypted. Given the low cost, zero setup if they're already Apple people and lack of admin I think it is ideal for them.

I pay for iCloud storage because I want HomeKit Secure Video cloud storage (I also have a local copy on disk).

  • Regarding your myQ, get away if you can. You can find an inexpensive HK device from Meross that will likely work for you.

If you want to use HA then you will end up migrating all of your HK devices to be paired with HA and then you can bridge them all (and more) back to HK so your family does not have to learn anything new.

  • An hour...long enough to consult the UCMJ and seek legal counsel before acting.

  • No, it was this officer's greatest joy to be relieved of command by a puny puke who will soon be rung up on charges by the ICC. He spoke truth to power as was his duty and now he is free of the consequences of his commander's choices. I'm sure he will drink a toast to the incarceration and eventual firing squad awaiting Hegseth and subordinates for war crimes.

  • These are documents pulled in an investigation and are probably mostly paper (digital was less prevalent during the heyday of his abusive stage). Digital comms were likely less used in commitment of crimes for obvious reasons. Paper documents are rarely digitized unless someone has a reason to disseminate them to others.

  • I think you nailed it here. Give the people a choice to vote for AOC and I think it will happen.

  • If Maxwell gets a pardon it will cause her more harm than being in prison. Someone who read that will fill with rage and make and end of her.

  • My response is likely to be unpopular but it's how I feel. I had ungodly gobs of physical media years ago - VHS, DVDs, BlueRay, CDs, etc. It got to where it was more of a hassle to dig through and find the item then slub it over to the equipment just to enjoy my media.

I digitized everything and stuck it on a home media server. Now it's as simple as grabbing the remote and pick what I want and it's done. I'm much happier now.

  • I can tell you from experience make sure that if the outlet you plug in to is GFCI protected have power loss alarm rigged up. Get a small generator for power outages. Nothing more frustrating than throwing away an entire chest of spoiled food.

  • If our people don't tell us that but our software does then we are living wrong...I have never had personal validation from my software but my people are good to me. Count me lucky.

  • Reality check - it's absolutely bizarre that a country you live and work in as a functional member of society would decide that you are now banished to a foreign land that you have no knowledge of. As American, imagine being drop-shipped to a small village in Uzbekistan with no money, clothes or google-translate. This is wicked-fucked up torture.

  • That doesn't work for the thumbnail animations apparently.

  • That still doesn't quiet the thumbnail animations and adds an extra click when I want to see it.

  • She waited 72 hours. The last living rescue was less than 24 hours after the flood.

We don't pay government to provide services, we pay government to support political functionaries and their appointed staff in their role as thieves of our taxes.

Small government for (R)'s is no spending on services. Small government for (D)'s is no limits on spending for things we all agree we need (with all of the overhead of the R's).

I guess I would rather have the one where I get some basic level of service from my government but I can't claim to like it.

  • A package of blue-tack - it is basically sticky play-dough that is completely opaque and you can use wads of it to blunt the pain of stupid LEDs on on your tech shit. I am currently sitting in my living room looking at my TV and various components including router and stuff...easily 20 gobs of blue-tack masking 20 blinking LEDs.

  • DC...Trump to the moon to fix - Trump.

Stratosphere - blow all the CO2 out into space and fix global warming.

    Schwarma after with friends.

Oh yeah, grab the great plastic pollution bomb in the pacific and hurl it into the sun then use fry-eyes to burn every plastic manufacturer on the planet.

  • Get some blue-tack and blind all those blinkers!

  • I call total bullshit on this. I drive a (work-provided) Prius every day. This thing has some serious get-up-and-go...meaning as I drive it every day I simply smoke those (front) tires. I leave most "performance cars" (ICE) behind at the light. That means that I am tossing micro-plastics out at a greater rate than most cars. I burn though tires every 15,000 miles.

When I get a red light (remember, I don't own it, it's a work car) I slam brakes until I can punch it again once it's clear. The regen-brake thing never applies given how I drive. The Prius is not inherently greener, it's just more fun than the ICE alternative I had before.

I do burn through a lot less gas so I guess 30-50 MPG is worth something.

I love my green alternative vehicle!

  • So totally true. I'm glad to see my intended comment so well phrased. My son was full of personality from the moment his eyes opened (and I melted).

As for funeral - myself, I don't see the point of one for anyone. They don't care. If the people left behind feel the need to do something they can but I don't see the point of it.

  • I wouldn't for a second think or hope that he endures the distress of poverty or feeling needy given where he started - he has tried to do good with his fortune and that is good enough for me...he is doing what he can for the world around him and should be comfortable as he does so. I hope to find my own (much less extravagant) comfort some day.
