  • They’re probably only meant for rapid response situations, but Patel is using them as personal jets. He didn’t even fly back until a whole day after the shooting.

  • The way he really sold the emotional scenes in that show convinced me he’s got some serious acting skills.

  • Metroid Prime my beloved…

  • I’m assuming they mean it isn’t a two way block. Blocked users can still interact with your posts/comments, you just can’t see them. I personally think that should be how it works, but I’ve seen a lot of arguments for the Reddit-style blocking where they can’t interact with you anymore.

  • Maybe capitalism enables patriarchy through entrenched power structures propping up men, but it generally enables all kinds of cultural hierarchies as tools to keep the masses divided. Singling out any division as something that enables capitalism doesn’t make much sense.

  • I can’t imagine Valve making that kind of heel turn on their (mostly) open-source philosophy. They’re marketing their whole hardware line as your hardware to do whatever you want with, going closed garden after the fact would throw away a lot of good will.

  • I vibe with a lot of anarchism, but I agree that having no system is probably worse than a flawed system. And I’m a strong proponent of abolishing our current system of punishment, there just needs to be a rehabilitation system in its place.

  • Less movement in the main plot, but more unnecessary side plot shit that is often unresolved by the end.

  • Also the more repetition the more room on the page for ad spots. Same reason so many Youtubers restate the same shit almost verbatim over and over and over; it pads the video so Youtube can cram in more ad spots.

  • Often it’s a localization issue too. Japanese dialogue doesn’t translate easily to English, it’s usually longer and has more layers of formality that English can’t express. And they often aren’t allowed to cut the content, so they have to make the English super wordy and explainy to match the long winded mouth flaps.

  • The constant restating on Youtube is to pad out their video and get more ad spots. I also immediately dislike and hide them because of that.

  • At the very least I don’t understand why he even has the option if the bill passed the threshold already. I can understand the concept of the veto, but isn’t it a waste of time if the vote was already veto-proof.

  • He was asked why that airline and he specifically said it wasn’t to do with the airline, just that that particular flight suited his needs. He did say “it’s just because I have a grudge”, but he didn’t say what it was.

I also agree he died, mostly because they never found the money in circulation. None of the serial numbers they gave him were ever identified. So it seems he either never spent a cent of it, or he didn’t survive the jump.

  • It’s interesting to hear about someone having a similar experience due to a brain injury. I have always wondered if my inability to internalize thoughts was some kind of developmental thing; if I don’t speak them or write them down then they’re really scattered and sorta incoherent.

  • Probably different for everyone, but I have neither and sometimes feel almost compelled to speak my thoughts out loud. If I don’t speak them they’re just kind of abstract feelings or impressions.

  • It’s not competing to acknowledge it affects everyone who has it to different extents. It hugely impacts my life, so it is annoying for others to downplay it or call it a “super power” because it doesn’t impact them as much. I can acknowledge their struggle, it’s not unfair to expect the same in return.

  • Your second paragraph is exactly why this line of thinking is dangerous. People with disabilities aren’t uniquely prone to dangerous ideologies. No matter how good the intentions are this would only create an association between disability and becoming fascist, which does nothing but hurt vulnerable people in the long run. We can support them without fear-mongering about how dangerous they may be otherwise.

  • Also the longer they make the article the more places for ads. Most websites are cool about this and add a “jump to recipe” button, but many don’t so they can get more ad revenue.

  • who can say what the police and prosecutors will conclude?

Prosecutorial discretion is the real issue in most of these cases. If it were brought before a jury it could easily be argued that they tried literally nothing else before killing this person, so how could they reasonably believe anything? But it may never get to a jury because the DA might be a racist dirtbag who just decides to never press any charges.
