  • pour superglue on them so everything stays put, pour solvent when you want to take them off

  • Most likely if you wanted to generate qr code that looks like swastika, you would have to input very specific letter nonesense to do it. Its very specific scenario and just pointless waste of manhours to prevent it, when someone who would want to generate such qr code would just do something else if prevented.

  • at least this would create quite nice case if someone has to defend oneself in court. Either one can defend oneself with it or its dismissed and it proves that law does not apply to the rich.

  • can't logic someone out of somewhere they didnt logic themselves in.

So first try to understand how your friend feels and what is really going on with them.

  • i wonder which would be worse idea, letting llm to have full access to your critical systems and data, or letting random people from internet freely connect to them and expect them to help.

  • it seems if game hasnt been specificially made in such way it will not work on linux or uses some intrusive "anti cheat", it will work much better than on windows ever. For me, not a single game i have wanted to play has failed to work on linux. I even got star citizen to work by installing it according to guide and using windows emulator. On steam, even some really old game, longest journey (from 2000) worked flawlessly when i tested how it will run.

  • that is why it should be up to democratic vote if such system should be used. or there could be certain amount you get, so countries would want to think more carefully what to block. like, you can have certain amount per year and if you need more, you could request more but then it would be up to others if you get it.

but then again, if hungary is pretty much the only country causing trouble with this, then there is no point in such system but instead it should be considered if hungary should be in eu in the first place. Hopefully things improve there so such thoughts could be put to rest.

  • hopefully things get better if he loses power

  • there really should be somekind of limitation on how much you can abuse the veto system. or at least some reprecussions. Imagine if finland started to veto any and every decision? I bet at some point finland would get some serious problems for doing so, so why does hungary get special treatment?

  • nah, its the companies that are coming after the minds. llm are just their instrument for it.

  • oh boy, so you can be prevented from freely modding your pc games too?

  • Way I see it, death is something that is in between different states, something ends and something else begins.

  • those who dont mean what they say with it actually mean "dont resist". Abhorring violence is noble, but bad people have latched on to it like a parasite.

  • without death there is no end and without end there is no real beginning either since the word doesnt even have meaning at that point. And without end there is also no change, because changing enough would be also kind of an ending and also "dying" as one version of you stops and another begins. Could such being even be sentient enough to understand you? Would it want to be?

  • at some point the failure of justice system will lead to vigilantism because people truely lose their faith in it.

  • i want it banned even if it doesnt

  • the thing is, alternatives need to be able to cater also the tech illiterate. Otherwise we will have growing number of people that will just accept all this bullshit and eventually start to view more free systems with suspicion(after some propaganda from corporations), which might lead to pressure to limit/restrict those free systems in personal usage.

We really need a distro that we can recommend to some grandma who can barely open their pc by themselves and which they can use easily and safely. Since most people use pc for mostly browsing and maybe printing, text editing, i think it shouldnt be too hard to make something that is easy to use since you can leave majority of functions off and mostly have to think of ease of use/automation.

  • removing downvotes is same as giving upvotes to trolls and assholes by default. not even toxic positivity imo, just plain toxicity

  • Though when you do encounter problems in windows, they will likely be something that just cant be solved or its unnecessarily big hassle. Or bad stuff will happen that was mostly out of your hands in the first place, like what happened with the article.

But yeah, there should be a distro that is specificially aimed for tech illiterate people that is nice and easy to use and also safe. But then again, if majority started using linux it might also draw more attention from malicious parties like criminals and corporations. Its just that for me, once you have linux set up and automated, you dont need to do anything complicated with it if you dont want to. At least i havent had to on mint. I understand that basic users can't do that on their own, but I bet there are tons of people who have skills to do so and could do it for a reasonable pay or even as a favor to friend. People are willing to pay more for less, so why not.
